Creepy? Vancouver fans have watched a decade of beauty from the Sedin twins. Plays more beautiful than any individual effort that you might have seen from Nash or Ovechkin. Those are two of the most beautiful hockey players in the league, if the fact you don't like their faces overwhelms that for you, then I suggest you find a new hobby, perhaps following modeling instead of hockey, that can better support superficial values.

Your man crush on the Sedins is extremely disturbing.

And that "decade of beauty" resulted in 0 cups and only 1 SCF appearance. Beautiful plays may win a few games here and there but the Sedins lack the drive, desire and ability to make a difference when their team needs them the most (4 points between the two of them in the cup final). So, no, I don't think they have character and I wouldn't give up 1 of the Jackets first rounders for both of them, let alone all three.

I wasn't arguing in favor of acquiring them.

And for the record, I have the same sort of "man crush" on the Sedins that I have for Crosby or any other player I consider to be brilliant. If it seems like more than that to you, I apologize for giving you the wrong impression. Although I don't think "decade of beauty" is improperly put, its truly astounding the number of genius plays they've made over the years.

Wow, did you ever go full on into a myth. This is utter BS. The Sedins are very good character players. They're extremely hard-working players who take a lot of physical abuse and don't shy away to the perimeter, and they're not bigtime divers either.

oh come on, really?
I hesitate to derail this any more, but a quick "Sedins diving" search on youtube will help you.

The Horcoff one is especially bad. So's this one:

Those guys represent nothing of what this team is supposed to be about.

Okay, that one looked bad at first, but its a slow-mo of a butt-end, hard to tell, though its probably a dive. I've just seen enough games where they don't dive to think it isn't a big part of their games, but could be wrong. It probably just seems that way to me because the Canucks roster is full of divers and chirpers, so the Sedins don't stand out in that regard. So I retract my statement about them not being divers. The rest stands.

If you are going to place your perceptions of what is "creepy" above character or ability to play hockey, than you're going to have a hard time trying to recover the moral high ground. Good luck.

I'm pretty sure we are talking two different languages.

I didn't speak about their performance on ice, nor if I would or wouldn't want them on my team.

I have absolutely what you are talking about or how you claim to your conclusion. I wasn't even talking a moral position. This was probably the strangest exchange I've ever had on the site.

I stand by what I said. The Sedin's creep me out. I haven't taken a position on them as players or where they stand in hockey history or even if I like them or not as hockey players.

Strange.

Harry Caray creeped me out and he was an icon in Chicago sports.

I argued in favor of the Sedin's character, and you replied:

it doesn't matter about their character. They are creepy as hell.

And now you claim that your statement about their creepiness was unattached to what I was originally discussing.

I take it this is your way of retracting a statement.

I'm hoping you're done with this, because I'm done.

I do believe Vancouver's Stanley Cup window has closed. The Sedins turn 33 this year. They are no longer Vancouver's future, but it's past.

But would they trade those two guys for your 3 picks?

Would you guys do it?

Discuss!

So ... give up three first round picks, any/all of whom could become solid players for us for the next decade - or more ... for two guys who are on the downward slope of their career, known for underachieving ... especially in the playoffs?

No thanks. Maybe if this were the 25 or 26 year old version of the Sedins ... but mortgaging your entire future for two guys exiting their prime is exactly the kind of thing Mike Milbury would do.

Seriously ... why is anyone even discussing this still?

I'm certainly not going to argue this guys top 5

they may go in a different order depending on team preferences but these guys have all been top 10 picks most of this season.

I am just hoping that Jarmo has picked out one of these guys and has d plan on how to trade up and get him. Wouldn't be terribly surprised if the Finn GM would be interested in the Finn centreman, just don't want to give away the farm to move up.

I am very happy we have some hockey guys running our club. Take that top 5 and add in Lindholm, Hunter, & Monahan and you pretty much have all the mock drafts listed on the mains.

I know we need elite forward talent, hell everyone knows that but at 14 the pick might be the big cannon defenseman. They compare Pulock to Al Mcginnis? I remember that dude he could crank the slap shot, hardest shot in the NHL for most of his career. Lets go Jackets!!

As a guy who didn't want to like Seth Jones coming into the season, I have a hard time putting anyone - but particularly Drouin - at #1 on any draft list. For me, Jones is the top prospect for right now, and for the future ... he has absolutely huge potential. I think he has the right guys in the top-5, just not in the right order.

Nichushkin worries me. We need a guy who will come over in the next year or two and put the KHL behind him, none of this "I'll play top-line in the KHL until I am given top-line in the NHL" crapola.

Jarmo traded a player on draft day to get the pick to nab Tarasenko with, and Chip McCleary (Blues writer) considers it a general tendency of Jarmo's to focus 100% on on-ice considerations until after you've drafted a player, and then focus on contract issues.

For what it's worth, having a guy play in his home country until he's 20 has some advantages in raising the maturity level so he's not so culture shocked, and one of our Russian posters has noted that Nichushkin is a typical kid from the Urals, i.e. hardworking, unlike those Moscow jerks. Its also common for Finns to not come to North America until they're 20. Having Nichushkin stay in Chelyabinsk (Urals) for two years isn't a problem to me, but did he say "I'll play top-line in the KHL until I am given top-line in the NHL"? Until I am given? That sounds worrisome if he actually said it, barring a translation snafu.

The first round have been coverd pretty good, anyone have some players in round 2-7 they really like. Here in sweden i am impressed with Lucas Wallmark, Wilhelm Westlund, Victor Arvidsson and Jesper Pettersson (the player Boone Jenner took out) all of these players have been playing in the SEL this season

What about Soberg and Sorensen (I know he's playing in North America). I also like Buchnevich and Barokowski (sp?). Seem like 2nd/3rd round type players with upside.

What worries me about Nichushkin is on-ice and possible attitude issues.

He didn't show up for the U18 tournament, and the assessment from some scouts is that he thought it was beneath him and wanted his linemates to do all the work while he floated and cherry picked. There are questions on whether his hockey IQ is average or above average. He's drawn comparisons to Nash.

If you combine all of that together, if he struggles in the NHL and doesn't want to do the work to improve, then he has a very easy out to go to the KHL.

On the other hand, his team sold him to Dynamo Moscow, so he's no longer playing in his hometown in Russia and who knows if he wants to actually report. The Russian media isn't going to say that.

The Jackets have a solid core of Russian players who can mentor him. If he came over this season, there's the possibility of him living with Tyutin's family. It could be a very good situation, and much different than years past with Filatov and Zherdev.

He's under contract in the KHL for two more years, right? And that means he can't come over, period, right?

He would have to buy-out his contract, but I really don't see that happening. I don't recall exactly what the buy-out would be, but for some reason I'm thinking it's around $3M. He'd have to get close to the rookie max and hit every bonus to break even on the year if he did that. Either way, I'd say it's pretty unlikely that he doesn't play out his deal in the KHL before coming to NA.

Oh I'm done, other than one clarification. What is bolded is totally inaccurate. I'm not even sure if you even know what conclusion you are trying to even reach.

Yeah, so draft.... Yeah.. We aren't trading for the Sedin's at the draft. But to repeat the same thing again, sure we might trade a pick or two. Ok, I'm bored.

Since Nichushkin has said all along he wants to stay in the KHL and play for Traktor, not much has been revealed as to if there is any sort of NHL out in his contract or how he might get out of it. Now that he's been shipped to Dynamo, that could change.

Playing for his home town team is one thing, getting essentially bought by one of the big Moscow teams could change things. But Dynamo likely not going to want to let him go.

Is there any way we can buy him from them? Or trade them a player?
