Meant Friday, but I REALLY doubt he will play against the Sens. If he isn't even taking slappers so he isn't sure his shoulder is ready. It sounds like another week to me.

Edit: We do have a game Monday Bleed against the Leafs in Toronto. His playing all, comes down to whether he makes that trip or not.
I think next Monday or even the 18 th.

Enstrom injury serious?

Tacit reference to the fact Lou doesn't re-sign players in season too often. It's not really funny especially after what Elias said to Chere today.

What did Patty say ?

edit: Found it. The quotes arent that bad to be honest. He didnt say anything that to me stood out as he was leaving or testing the market. Chere is a joke. He writes Patty hints he will test he market, and then the quote after it does not give any implication that he will

I have no idea what Patty said but if he were to leave via free agency this summer and isn't replaced with a legit top #6 forward, this team will be forfeiting a top #5 pick next year... book it.

Who wouldn’t want to talk about it during the season?†Elias asked. “Then you would see they have interest. And, if you like the offer, why wouldn’t you sign? But that never came up here.

“If it had happened it would’ve been great, but it didn’t happen. It’s getting kind of late now.â€

While Elias would prefer to finish his career with the Devils, he hints he will test the market in July.

“It comes pretty quickly right after the season,†Elias said about the start of free agency.

When Parise became unrestricted last summer he went through a process he called painful before deciding to sign with the Minnesota Wild. Elias has endured it once before.

“It was painful for me, too. It wasn’t easy,†Elias recalled. “But I know now what it’s all about. I’ll be more prepared. I’ll be more ready.â€

I want to know how Chere got that Patty wanted to test the market from that

that is the one thing lou does that drives me nuts.

If players don't want to stay, it's one thing. But to push it off until the last second requires you to overpay since other teams have now elevated the price, or we lose the player for nothing.

Both of which probably get avoided if you just contact their agent and tell them to resign now or get sent to the bottom of the hudson.

Agreed. Especially with a guy like Patty . I would bet the process would be fairly quick

Also off topic, but I would like Brian Burke as our next GM

The fact that we had 3 forwards entering UFA status was a MAJOR concern of mine when we decided no to forfeit the 29th overall pick last year.

If we were to lose one of those guys for free, yet again, it would generate a MASSIVE hole in our already paper thin depth, up front and the last thing we need is to lose Elias and hand out a stupid contract to a pending UFA who isn't half the player Patty is ATM.

I will say this, this offseason will paint a nice picture of where this team is heading in the near future. If we can keep all 3 forwards and add someone else to solidify our top #6, we're heading in the right direction but if we lose one or two forwards and can't add anyone of significance PLUS we have to forfeit a pick.... this organisation is looking at dark days ahead.

I'd like to see someone defend Lou and his policies if Patty walked. No reason he should even sniff the UFA market just like Marty shouldn't have last year. The ''Not signing players during the season'' philosophy is so dated, and old fashioned.

It's more that Patty seems ticked about the policy, which is good and bad. Good cause it seems he wants to stay if he's annoyed at Lou not re-signing him, but bad if he decides to take it personally like Holik did with the arb hearing.

Maybe he didn't want to be put in a position of listening to other offers cause then he'd be tempted to leave again, the way he almost did in '06.

How much of a distraction would it have been for Patty and his agent (Walsh ugh) to sit down with Lou the last two days while there was a break in the schedule, and hammer out a new deal?

It might have caused a disturbance during Patty's shootout try in practice! Give me a break.
