Our last 10 is dead last in the league at 2-6-2.

And I don't think you need to strip Sal. He isn't going to warrant being on an NHL roster in a year or so and they'll need to name a new one then. Gosh I don't like that contract.

I went from not minding that contract to hating it more than anyone else in the last two weeks!

It's not even the fact that he's playing bad. He isn't playing really bad or anything. His contract is just way too much for a 37 year old stay at home defenseman. Combine that with the fact that we already had 7 defensemen for this year at the time it was signed.

But that free can of Sprite further continues to push aside what you really need, the Cristal.

Please explain to me how plucking a guy off waivers in any way, shape, or form prevents this team from getting better.

By his very presence Cam can't play and maybe Barch won't.

Every wall starts with one brick. I understand this board is particularly insufferable, but seriously, what's the worst that happens? This dude sucks and we waive him again? (A la Butthead?)

EDIT again: Also Cristal ain't free.

because we need a 10000000 goal scorer for a 5th round pick!

I can honestly see us putting Harrold on waivers, especially if he isn't used again soon. A lot of people though he may get picked up if we did put him on waivers. I can see us putting him on waivers, but if he's not claimed just keeping him. Just to try and give him a chance to get picked up by someone else where he might possibly get more playing time. If he goes unclaimed then we keep him up.

Hell this point we dont need Cristal...a bottle of Moet will do..ut we get more Boone's Farm Starwberry Hill

I understand, it's a no risk scenario, but it's starting to feel like Lou is doing everything in his power not to make a trade by making moves that obviously won't help. I mean come on, calling up Janssen and having Barch play while scratching Matteau. It made me angry that I spent money for tickets on that game when it almost seemed like an obvious tank effort (I know they weren't trying to lose). Also I understand we never trade with rivals so our relations don't matter too much with them, but still, it definitely did not help our relations with PIT, claiming a guy they just signed from their farm team. I really hope this turns out like Carter did last year but I think a trade is still needed. I don't know how comfortable our defensemen are, knowing that one wrong move could get them scratched because we have players of the same caliber sitting. No Cristal ain't free, but we have the money to spare.

What exactly have been our lines the past few games. I haven't been able to watch these plumbers since the Jets loss last Thurs.

I have to agree, sitting Matteau after a good game against Buffalo and replacing him with a player who was guaranteed not to score a goal was a real slap in the face to the home fans. We deserved that loss and I hope Deboer feels bad about it. No idea what he was expecting out of that game when his team is already struggling to score.

What I really want to see is some god damn line consistency. Nothing's gonna gel when everyone's playing with new linemates every other shift. Make lines, leave them, let them work out of the slump. Relying on the bingo cage just makes it seem like he's looking for some magic combination that will instantly turn everything around.

It appears he was trying to spark the team with that incredible 4th line of BARCH, Gionta, and JANSSEN! YUCK!

If Moose stinks up the joint again I expect he won't be so fast to pull him again unless he gives up 3 in the opening minutes. I'm not too high on Frazee, but goddammit Moose is not a starter. It sounds like he'll get another 3 games in 4 days.:shakehead:shakehead

Let Butler go on purpose, claim an actually serviceable 4th liner who was just signed by a divisional rival.

>Lou`s in a panic mode

Yours sincerely, HF message board.

I really don't understand what Barch has done wrong? He gets his asked kicked but so does this guy. Barch was out for the Zidlicky goals and was a +2. He's even on the year

Thats ****ing why.

Barch is so bad as a fighter he isn't even worth having on the ice to serve that role. So you might as well get a marginally better fourth-liner who can actually PK. Especially since having the likes of Gio and YaYo PK has been puke-worthy this year.

He hasn't done anything wrong, but when you struggle to score, it's more profitable to find a more serviceable bottom 6er who occasionally can pot one. Barch hasn't shown that ability throughout his career so far. Kostopolous has on occasion, and really, where is the risk?

So you just like Barch?

This allows us to play Bernier in the top9 on any given night. It`s a depth move and if anything, it creates more competition for Barch. It will keep him on his toes. That can`t be a bad thing. It also pretty much guarantees that Janssen won`t see much time in NJ anytime soon.

Can`t lose situation, so why not ****ing take advance of it?

stop posting the same stuff in different threads

that goes for everyone doing it.

No fun board brah.

Barch was supposed to be a more offensive version of Cam. Kostopolaris is supposed to be a more offensive and defensive version of Barch. Upgrade.

Barch did not do much at all out there and his timing for fights was suspect at best. Clarkson and Cam 1.0 at least knew when and where to drop the gloves and spark the team. Barch had timing worse than a fart in church and he was veering into Peters waters. That's not good.

+/- isn't exactly a meaningful stat if you dont' impact the play either direction. His +2 was purely a spectator on the ice as Carter and Zids were the only two people touching the puck or attacking the net on those goals mentioned.

A comment from a different point of view. I served my compulsory service in the Finnish Defence Forces last year. We had a bunch of lectures you know about tactics and stuff. We were told a billion times that spreading things even is not a tactic. You always have to have a breaking point, your strongest attack. I do not see why that wouldnt apply in hockey either. You gotta have in NHL a true #1 line that will do damage. That is why IK, Zajac + ??? have to get it going. Spreading them out wont help.

btw for all the people worried about Sal's contract (or Moose's at this point), apparently now you can buy out a 35+ deal without having it stuck on your cap, according to CapGeek.

The "over 35" rule does not apply in the event of an ordinary-course buyout or in the event of an amnesty buyout, #NHL confirms.

Excellent point. Plus one space cookie for you.

holy **** yes :handclap:

Does anyone have a logical explanation as to why Kinkaid was brought down to the AHL and we called up Frazee? Meanwhile, Moose is starting for us.
Due to the No trade clause, I understand why we need to keep Moose on the team, but why is Kinkaid called down and replaced by Frazee?

Lou said it was the plan from the start to get them both some time.

Frazee will get a look this weekend. If he isn't starting then Moose will get yanked one of the games most likely. If Marty isn't back soonish then we are in major doo doo.
