I believe Lou can sign Sykora whenever he wants... even on the last day of the season. He's a UFA so it has nothing to do with the trade deadline. He may have to put him through waivers to play though...

We need Zubrus and Loktionov healthy like right now. Zubrus is sorely needed on the first line... and the team looked much worse without Loktionov. Hopefully his injury is not a big deal.

Zubrus-Loktionov-Kovalchuk
Elias-Henrique-Bernier
Ponikarovsky-Zajac-Clarkson
Carter-Gionta-Ray Liotta (don't care)

Then maybe Lou can trade for a good right winger... move Bernier down to the fourth line to reunite CBGB and a new winger for Elias and Henrique. I am still confident about this team. We just need our three injured guys to come back.

Food for thought: since Brodeur went down, we've won 1 game in regulation.

I threw out that they wouldn't win without Marty and that has unfortunately proved more true than not.

Although Moose has started to come out and play the puck more recently to help out his D. I'm sure someone mentioned that they need the G to play the puck a lot in order to have a chance.

Winning the next 2 games would be very important because of standings and the ottawa game is important to take at least one too.

Pretty much they need to start getting points again. going on a long losing streak in a short season is not good news and they've only been .500ish since then as well. 0-6-0 and then 3-2-1 isn't a great recipe when you are only going to 48 =/

At first I thought this meant like monetarily free, fayne shirts.

Yea I thought this was a promotion of sorts.... Kind of disappointed, but I do understand the reasoning
Yeah sorry about that guys, my bad. I should have used quotation marks in the title.

meh. i don't see fayne sitting for too long anyway. i think he might play tuesday.
That's the one thing I'm afraid of. By the time anything gets put together and we get the shirts, he'll probably be back in the lineup.

For who, Larsson? That's about the only other guy that's sitting at this point. Volchenkov's actually played fairly decently since his 'rest'. Even Salvador's been better since his day off, and he's not sitting anyway. Zidlicky's not sitting, snafus aside, no d-man can really contribute offensively as much as he can, though Harrold can run the second PP fine. Harrold's played too well to sit. The D as a whole looks better since it's been stabilized.

And Tallinder's not going to be out forever either, although you never know with the Devils.

I hate what's happened to Fayne but it might be a lost cause this year.

if i was deboer, i'd sit tallinder. he's soooo slow and it's hard to watch sometimes.

Tallinder's been 'sitting', if he's capable of sitting anyway.

Salvador-Zidlicky
Greene-Larsson
Volchenkov-Harrold

Which one's coming out? Only one is right now but it ain't the one anyone wants to come out either.

Volchenkov has not impressed me lately. I would not replace him with Tallinder though.

Something has got to give, the TDL is 2 weeks away and while Brodeur's return will definitely energize the team, some secondary scoring would be nice to have.

Volchenkov is good for 1-2 penalties and a flubbed play every single game.

We're not trading Zajac, whoever said that. Doing so pretty much guarantees the UFA departure of Henrique and Larsson down the road.

You don't sign player to long term deals, and then trade them immediately. That looks beyond terrible in the eyes of impending UFA's.

I'd sit Sal. If they want to bull ****, just say he "tweaked something and is undergoing further examination."

Then the next game say "results weren't what we wanted so we're getting a second opinion".

Hopefully by that time someone else is being terrible.

They already did that once

I want Fayne to play as well, I just think Pete wants to see more from him. It's a good developmental process right now. Down the road he will do the same thing to Larsson.

Started to play it more? He's been playing it OCD-style like he would get bored if he didn't to being with! That's what's gotten him into trouble more often than not. Even last night he nearly skated out to the blue line playing a puck he didn't really need to play in the third period scaring us all and I shook my head.

We've kept saying that about Holmgren every time he does it, and he keeps getting players to sign there without NTC's. If he finally runs into trouble with Giroux then he'll be paying the piper, but until then at least the league stepped in during the last CBA and ensured you couldn't Holmgren a guy within like a year of signing a long-term extension. Unless I suppose it's a UFA sign-and-trade.

i never really payed any attention to him when he was a senator but is this the volch we were expecting? i mean i saw highlights of the huge checks and how he sacrifices his body and what not. i cant say hes the worst part of the defense, which is a positive, but still.
