They aren't getting any goaltending and have to chase every game. That wears on a team and makes it difficult.

Nothing wrong with the locker-room. It's basically the same cast last year minus Parise. It's a largely a talent issue on the top two lines, which are exarcerbating other problems. Look at the numbers of the so-called Big Guns during this losing streak. They don't lie.

I agree, but for their absence to be going this long...

We definitely need to upgrade the top six and we need to get Kovy going yesterday.

Question whos out there that can help Kovy and what will it cost. I'm guessing Clarkson +

excellent point. Its chain of problems. The only way to weather the storm is upgrade the quality of players imo. How we do that is a mystery. I don't think we can afford to sit still or make a lateral move if we want to contend

The numbers don't lie but they are a statistical anomaly when compared to career averages. Something is seriously seriously wrong if this continues for the rest of the season.

You just need to get stops and be able to play from ahead. Easier game then.

Offensively Kovalchuk needs to switch wings. He needs to be in a shooting position more often, that isn't happening on the right wing. It is a simple fix.

yeah i have been one to not fret to much over him being used on RW, but now its to the point where you should put him on LW just for the sake of trying something new. hell, id throw him on the left side with clarkson on his right and insert whichever centerman you choose.

Barch and Janssen won't be in our lineup in the playoffs (if we even make it) and if we're gonna go anywhere, CBGB will be our 4th line. Kostopowhatever has no place on this team if we're gonna go anywhere. When Zubrus is healthy we'll have one spot open in my eyes and it will hopefully be for a top 6 trade.

seems pointless. Trade him to pittsburgh for a pick. Trade the pick for someone better.

What's messed up is that the Rangers grabbed Roman Hamrlik off waivers. To me, that would have made more sense for us than grabbing Metropolis. (Whatever his name)

It would have made sense if we didn't 'still' have 9653 defensemen. And if the Rangers weren't below us on the waiver claim anyway - for today at least.

much respect for those who have the sack to say that TRYING him at LW is a damn fine option. better late than never. welcome to the party!

This. Let's all jump on Lou because all of our moves have to come at once. Top 6 scoring forwards aren't available right now. When the market opens up in a couple of weeks and a trade is there, it'll happen. Right now, it's on our own very talented forwards to start putting the puck in the net.

Problem is it might already be too late in two weeks.

It won't be. We don't need like a metric ton of things to improve to win games. We just need some kind of effective line set up and the goaltending to improve.

To say we don't have enough talent in our top 6 to make the playoffs is silly panic talk. Kovy, Elias, Zajac, Henrique, Clarkson are all top 6 guys more then talented enough to carry a team. We need one more but for a playoff run not to end a slump. We are just in the most unfortunate times where they all went cold at once.

Plus that doesn't even count guys like Loki and CBGB who are capiable of chipping on goals too.

The talent and team is there. Sometimes you can't explain why things are going bad.

Who's scoring and who's not scoring makes no difference if you're giving up 4-5 goals a night. You need the freaking '80's Oilers to overcome that. And I don't think Marty is riding in on the white horse anytime soon, at least not the Marty from early season.

It's like complaining that someone gave you a free can of Sprite when you've been dying for a free glass of Cristal.

Better than being thirsty. Better than Barch.

I hope Lou drops a muther effin bombshell! (Friesen/Tverdovksky style) Something is wrong in that locker room this is very reminiscent of the Langenbrunner era. I think as bad as it appears, we have to make a decision if we're in or out of the playoffs and acquiring help is the difference. Does anyone feel the same?
edit: very saddened by Salvador and Elias set back in speed.

Agree about Patty and Sally. To late for Sally, but not for Patty and that's why I wouldn't give Elias a 3 year deal.
