So who's thinking Butler will be sticking around now?

With the injury to Zubrus it's all but certain; and he deserves it after that tremendous performance today.

Wonder if we'll be seeing Loktionov sooner rather than later considering the loss of Zubrus? If he's out for any length of time i wouldn't surprised to see the kid get a shot. At least we have a few options with Matteau and Butler playing well, the acquisition of Loktionov and Barch not looking too out of place (although i'd rather we have Barch out of the lineup in non-rivalry games that tend to be less physical).

So who's thinking Butler will be sticking around now?

He brings an element to the power play with a wicked wrist shot from the right and some good wheels.

If teams continue to key on Kovy on the PP, that could open up some nice looks for Butler on the right side, leading to a good number of chances and points.

I do feel bad for Tallinder

I was surprised we took him out because he was looking pretty good, but we've been playing so well with him out so it's going to be somewhat tough to work his way back in

29 teams could have had Butler for free if not for a well timed waive by Lou.

this sounds serious. I sincerely hope I am wrong but if in the same week you are looking for a second opinion it's serious.

Best wishes Zubie.

From TG;

Brodeur has Ken Daneyko sweating now that he might break his Devils’ record of 1,283 regular season games. Daneyko joked on Twitter before the game, “Do I have to trip him down stairs next year?”

Losing Zubrus would be just awful. The team will probably be able to get by for a decent amount of time without him, but they will need him playing if they have any serious plans of playing deep into the spring. A puck possession monster and he plays well in any area of the ice.

Maybe we'll get some 95 action here. I remember when Daneyko got hurt that season, there was concern that he would be lost for the year. It forced Lou's hand and he brought in Shawn Chambers, who would wind up being a tremendous pickup for New Jersey. Daneyko was able to make it back anyways and the rest is history.

That does sound serious. Poor Zubrus. Get well soon.

Who knew falling into the bench door could cause such a serious injury?

Butler should be here to stay unless we make some kind of trade to put in that spot. He's been very solid the whole week.

Butler is definitely making a strong case to stick around with his work today.

We have an interesting fourth line right now: tough guy, PK specialist, PP specialist. Oh, and the Kovy double shift, of course.

I swear the scouting report here was that Butler had average speed at best. He looks speedy so far and very confident with the puck.
