That would be huge for the Mets.

They finally get that elusive stud outfielder.

I'm wary about trading our two top prospects, especially as they're so highly regarded...but it IS Stanton.

If you can move one, plus some other fairly highly regarded pieces and keep the other then i'd absolutely that.

Just think of it like this:

You essentially flipped RA Dickey and Zach Wheeler for freaking Giancarlo Stanton and Noah Syndergaard.

Stanton has the ability to be a constant 6-7 WAR player.

It is definitely a viable trade. But if you get rid of those guys you have no major league ready talent in the pipeline for the foreseeable future, as most of the other guys including Noah are more long term.

The Mets can then open up their wallets too.

Harvey, Niese, Syndergaard, Familia.

That trade would be pure robbery for the Mets.

In hockey, it's like the Wild moving Granlund and Dumba for Stamkos.

I know the easy thing is to say "HELL YEAH, GIANCARLO STANTON TO THE METS." Yeah in terms of value, the Mets come out on top..

But I step back & I ask myself who would I rather have over the next say 4 years. Stanton & someone like Dioner Navarro at catcher and Matt Garza in the rotation. Or Wheeler, d'Arnaud & say Choo in the OF.

I just don't think the Mets are at a point where making a deal like this makes sense for them. yeah it plus 1 HUGE hole they have, but it also opens up 2 holes. Mets just aren't there yet. Let's say we get lucky & Duda actually turns into a MLB slugging OFer, well we still need 2 Ofers with only Brandon Nimmo in the pipeline (maybe Corey Vaughn too). If we get 1 of those OFers by dealing off our catcher, then we'll need a catcher. We're not ready for this deal yet no matter how amazing & how young Stanton is.

Now say Syndergaard, Fulmer & Montero all have beastly years, then that may change things because then the pitching depth will still be strong even if you deal off Wheeler.

My hunch is that Stanton ends up in Texas for Profar plus, it just makes too much sense. The Rangers just inked Andrus to a huge extension, and they don't have a spot for the best prospect in baseball. Meanwhile, they're going to lose Cruz to free agency after this year. If you're the Marlins and you have to trade Stanton (which is the logic I think we're all working under), there is no better package than one centered around Profar.

But why are we discussing hypothetical Giancarlo Stanton trades when we could be looking at gifs of Matt Harvey sliders?

Also, god bless Carson Cistulli

Maybe Giancarlo will demand a trade to the Mets for Havens and Justin Turner just so he doesn't have to look like a fool flailing at Harvey's slider.

Yankee starting pitching coming around. CC's velocity still not there but he got the outs. His last two starts have been great.

That's why I don't freak out over April losses with the Yankees.

Idiot Red Sox beat writers were calling JBJ the next Yaz after the Yankees series.

He's hitting .120

I know there's no reason to talk about other catchers in the system now that we have D'Arnaud :sarcasm:, but Kevin Plawecki is off to a great start in Savannah. I liked that pick when we made it, although of course we didn't have D'Arnaud, but it's still good to see him refine his game. He's compared to A.J. Pierz, which would be a pretty solid outcome.
