Im gonna say that the Tampa Bay Rays is the best team in the AL and perhaps the most exciting to watch. Too bad they have no fans.

Regarding the Baseball HOF. I think trying to retroactively punish these guys by not inducting them into the HOF is total BS. If that is the way the HOF wants to operate then they should also kick out guys like pitcher Ed Walsh, who is in the HOF and famous for throwing a spitball before it was made illegal. Players should be judged in the context of their careers.

You never know who did or didn't take PEDS that are in the HOF as we speak or players who are considered "shoe ins", So what do you do? You either need to let them all in, or keep everyone in this era out JMO.
Anyone who thinks it's unfair players are being kept out because of their link to PED's...your issue is with the Hall of Fame voters, not MLB. Pete Rose is the only person MLB is keeping off the ballot.

lagares plays a solid cf with his speed and ability to catch it. and when he can get on base he can flat out fly.
if he can continue to hit like this, this 24 yr old might find a permanent spot in cf.
capt kirk cant run and hes really not a cf. young is dinged up, so lagares has a shot to make some noise here.
nice to see the mets with some young kids who can play the outfield.

Both Heyman and Passan agree that*Alex Rodriguez*remains firm in his refusal to cooperate with a deal,*as was reported earlier today. MLB would like Rodriguez to serve a suspension through the 2014 season but could pursue a lifetime ban if he does not cooperate

future looks bright indeed. organization definitely on the upswing.
if jon niese can get back healthy, they have the makings of a decent young staff 1-3 and gee as a solid 4 man. you can win with those 4 arms.
develop the yutes and let em play !!
and go get a corner outfielder with some pop

Lagares needs to learn how to take a walk or he will never be that valuable. If he does though he can be a pretty solid player. He's real impressive defensively.

Brett Gardner for the Yankees has an OPS over 750 and from Yankee fans, u would think he's a 4th OFer.. I agree lagares would be valuable if he did the same thing

I would say it is highly unlikely he can be a longterm .750+ OPS guy. He has consistently posted very low walk rates in the minors and has very little power. Ideally he can be a Peter Bourjos type player.
Gardner is actually really good though. Has a little bit of power. Steals a ton of bases. Walks a lot. Can hit for a decent average. Plays great defense. There's very little not to like about his game.

You're right. My problem with the whole situation is the media writers moral crusade against guys like Braun as well as the rumblings about MLB's actions towards A-Rod. The writers (many of which are HOF voters) and MLB have been working in tandem to royally **** up the handling of the PED problem.

You can even add in Syndergaard, Montero and Mejia to the mix. The Mets should be able to move one or two of these young arms to add some OFers.
If the Mets can bulk up the Bullpen and fine tune the infield at 1B and SS, they have potential to be a contender in the NL East.

Well to be fair, the biggest reason for their poor attendance figures is their abomination of a stadium...I don't even like watching games on TV from that stupid dome. If they can ever get sparkling new stadium built in the Tampa/St Pete area, watch their attendance skyrocket.

Yankees fans are way too hard on Gardner. He's on base constantly, especially in the first inning. Nobody feels like driving him in.
Any reason why Brett Gardner doesn't steal bases like he usually does?

You know... That's an interesting argument. It is a logical one. But I have my doubts about that. All the arguments can be debated.
I'm gonna ramble here... And none are going to know what I'm saying.
Look at the Marlins. Sure they have a terrible team. But when things were okay in the beginning of last season, it wasn't a bang. Now it's new stadium Miami's stuck with.
So many people here have so many excuses. I'll be honest, I haven't been to the Trop to see the Rays in over a season and a half. Personal reasons. Nothing to do with the team or stadium or location.
It is a pain in the ass to get to. It's easy in a sense because of the highways. The stadium is off the I-275. It's in such an awkward location. It's out of the way. It's far for a lot of people. For a lot, it's an hour event getting there and an hour getting back home. But I can't fully buy that. There's people in the City that travel a distance to the games. It took me an hour to get to Yankee Stadium when I went to the Rays game on Saturday. They may have a subway/train system, but they're still paying for that.
The stadium cannot be in downtown St. Pete. It's a dead zone down there. Nobody wants to go there. They desperately need to build it in the middle of the region, either by Raymond James Stadium, Channelside by the Forum, or Carollin (North St. Pete). It'd be great for the region as a whole and not just for people of South Pinellas, South Tampa, and people in Manatee County.
If the Trop was in either of those spots, we wouldn't be talking about attendance as much. A new stadium will help, but it comes down to location.

The thing I love about Syndergaard is that he looks like Harvey when he pitches, both delivery wise and demeanor. He also has the late movement on his pitches that Harvey has, whereas Wheeler is more finesse and needs to learn how to control his pitches better. We've definitely seen flashes with Wheeler, like the SF start and last night taking a no hitter into the 7th. He still needs to compose himself when he gets in trouble a bit more, but he's going to be a good one.
Combine that with Montero, Mejia, and Niese, the Mets rotation is going to be incredible, possibly as soon as mid year in 2014. Now the key is figuring out how to flip this pitching into good OF prospects.
