So if GMCF has a pair hanging between his legs he'll go off and do something stupid like this following idea

Trade Seto and PMB for whatever they get

Call up Larsson, Move MiG to wing with Koivu and Parise

2nd line becomes

Heater Larsson Coyle

:D

Will try to watch him tonight, want to see if he keeps elevating his game.

I'm done with Stoner on the 2nd pairing. If we're going to put up with the mental lapses, bad defense and subpar breakouts, I'd at least rather have Scandella's offensive potential.

Shouldn't we be seeing Spurgeon fill that role possibly tonight?

Doubt we see Coyle move off that top line unless he starts really underperforming. That #1 RW spot is his to lose for the rest of the time he's here, unless we somehow acquire someone better.

I liked Coyle the first couple games, but didn't really notice him that much last night. Much like everybody else on the roster, he needs to start getting on the scoresheet if he wants to keep his spot.

Coyle has been fine up there, but bottom line is we're still not scoring!!!!

Unless there is true hope that that line combo really will start putting them in, something needs to change.

I thought Coyle played really well last night. He's great in the corners and behind the net protecting the puck and dishing it off for Koivu and/or Parise.

It's hard to bag on him for not scoring when that could be said for everyone in the lineup.

coyle has looked more comfortable every game. didn't like his first couple, but he's been getting steadier. he's looked unremarkable (no Brodin) but he doesn't look out of place. Like i said before, IMO the current top six has been the best set up we've had as far as creating chances.

For the sake of being consistent, I still would like to see what I suggested in the first version of this thread before the season. (Taking into account the Powe trade)

Parise - Koivu - Coyle
Heatley - Brodziak - Granlund
Setoguchi - Cullen - Clutterbuck
Mitchell - Konopka - Powe (Rupp)

I wouldn't mind this at all.

More of a though experiment than anything but if Seto could continue to get shots and work his butt off I wouldn't mind seeing

Parise-Koivu-Seto
Heatley-Granlund-Coyle

More of a balanced line up with some theoretical fire power on each line.

Out of place or not its time to produce..4 games 0 points. Until he produces he is no upgrade over having Heatley there...Atleast Heatley produces when on that line.

Is trying coyle at center such a crazy idea? This lineup sure would be different

parise-koivu-granlund
heatley-coyle-zucker
setoguchi-larsson-clutterbuck
mitchell-konopka-rupp

Suter-brodin
spurgeon-gilbert/scandella
stoner- gilbert/scandella

I mean I like that, but I still think even with Heatley's limited skating he's a better player at this time than any of our forwards except Koivu/Parise.

I am really disappointed that Spurgeon is on that top PP unit. He hasn't played in a while now, and has had no time to practice with any of the guys.

IMO, he has never shown any skill at keeping the puck in at the blue line, and his shot has never been noteworthy.

I do not understand this decision when we have players like Granlund, Brodin, Gilbert, hell even Heatley would be better.

Yes, he has a rh shot, who gives a **** when he has never done a good job on the PP.

I'm not trying to rip on the guy too much, he's a decent fourth d, but I really do not get this, when our ****ing PP has already been struggling.

If you want to have him try a position he hasn't played since high school...in the NHL....then sure. Go for it.

Not sure the need for Coyle at center when we have 4 solid center man especially at face-offs. Konopka is top 10 Koivu top 30 and Granlund was 8 for 10 recently..Brodziak is a perfect 3rd line checking center.

Why try Coyle at center?? To give him more responsibility? Let him worry about getting to the net and scoring goals..not the center's job in our system

Granlund was 9 of 12 in the faceoff circle tonight, and was making plays all over the place. He's proving he's learning the game and is more than a capable center and is only getting better each and every night.
