Dorsett will be worn out after 40 games if he's the only one doing the dirty work. He's too small to take on someone every other night..That is one pretty soft line up everyone is predicting.

He'll have a 2 week break in the middle of the season, he'll be fine.

Completely agree. And to further the point even more all 3 on that line are defensive liabilities and do a lousy job back checking

Seems like if the coach is looking at pairs like he said somewhere yesterday,

Stepan-Nash
Brassard-Nash

Would be the best plan and work from there.

I don't mind Kreider with Richards either, put someone with some defensive awareness on the right, like Callahan but he's out, or someone who can move the puck, like Zucc with them.

Pouliot and Brassard seem to have something going so I'd probably put Nash with them.

For now with injuries and holdout
Pouliot-Brassard-Nash
Kreider-Richards-Zucc

Moore has looked good, Hrivik I thought played pretty well
Hrivik-Moore-Dorsett

Might as well slow the game down once in a while
Pyatt-Boyle-Asham
Or speed it up with a bunch of rookies for a pre-season game
Haley-Linberg-Fast/Kristo

That break will help, but he will need help in this new division. Who fights on the Rangers? Dorsett. Asham if he makes the team. Haley is he makes the team. Boyle every once in a while. Bickel but he should not play. Same with Falk.

Penguins:
Glass, Engelland, Bortuzzo,Adams

Flyers:
Simmonds, Hartnell, Grossman, Schenn x2, Rinaldo, Rosehill, Coburn

Islanders:
Clutterbuck, Martin, Hamonic, Carkner, Boulton, Finley

Hurricanes:
Westgarth, Gleason

Caps:
Erskine, Oleksy, Volpatti

Blue Jackets:
Boll, Dubisnky, Foligno, Prout

Devils:
Clowe, Carter

Rangers:
Dorsett, Asham?, Haley?, Bickel?, Falk?

well based on what the preseason has looked like so far yea that's the group but this will likely change.

Pyatt is going to likely play whether we like it or not then the other spots are anyones guess with Haley, Mashinter, Powe , Asham

Kids like Miller, Kristo, Lindberg, Hrvik, Fast will sub in for Cally and Hags while they are out

what other spots? when Cally and Hags come back we've got a locked-and-loaded lineup. there'd be no room for Pyatt or Haley or guys like them.

So if Stepan isnt signed by the opener, you think we see either Richards-Brassard-Moore-Boyle down the middle, or see Lindberg get a cup.

We could run with those guys, but I think it's even more likely that Lindberg gets a cup considering Step might not be signed when the season starts.

Dat defense.

If you'replaying Kreids-Rich / Rich-Zucc you'd better have Pouliot or Pyatt (or even Boyle) on the other wing.

I hear you but Boyle and Pyatt can't keep up, would sort of defeat the purpose as they pretty much are killers of what could have been nice offensive plays. Pouliot is already doing something with Brassard.

I think Barssard deserves a shot on the first line with or without stepan. The guy has been tremendous since coming here. I would start Nash-Brassard-Kreider. richards and Zuccarello seem to have good chemistry too

Hamonic? Dubinsky? Simmonds? You can't just pick gritty players and say they're fighters. Callahan, Girardi, etc are just as much fighters as those guys.

And look at most of the lists you made. Most Pitt fans want Adams and Glass gone. Carter barely plays for the Devils.

Fighting doesn't win you games anymore.

Simmonds has fought 16 times the past two seasons. Dubinsky has been injured and fought nine times in that span. Callahan and Girardi have fought a combined four times in two years. They're not at all comparable.

Hamonic is not a fighter.

Oh I don't disagree, but I think icing those three would be like inviting the opposition to score. They would have to get all their starts in the offfensive zone.

Adding Pyatt or Boyle on either wing would help along the boards and with defense and even if they don't bring much offense, they could still go to the net for deflections and tap-ins.

Point well taken, unless they develop a team toughness it'll be like the atomic stop, duck, and cover turtle. Ramp up that PP. I think we win a lot of games this year because our 3-4 lines will outclass others.

I dont think we need to have fighters on our team, the team just needs to have a few guys just step up and try to protect their teammates, especially Hank who has been shown as being bullied in his own crease

Bickel (Minors/Benched) = 13
Asham (Injured) = 14
Boyle = 4
Dorsett (Injured) = 24
Haley (Minors) = 8

Dorsett will be in the starting lineup and so will either Asham and Haley. There's no need for any more fighting on this team.

It's not a big part of the game anymore and it's more important to have guys that know how to actually skate and score here and there.

The majority of guys mentioned were goons who are completely irrelevant at this point in time.

I don't know that Haley or Asham have a spot when Callahan and Hagelin return. I'd wager on Dorsett's spot being safe. I don't know that it will be a problem, but it is worth watching.

We don't need an enforcer to fight those stupid staged fights. The number of fights per season is pretty irrelevant. All we need is guys that will protect their teammates when necessary, even if it might include fighting. And I think we're fine in that regard.
