If we're to assume Cally, Hags and maybe Stepan aren't available to start the season, Can someone give me their best guess as to what the lines will look like for game 1( I guess a lot depends on who makes the team), but I'm just looking for likely scenarios.

Currently looks like (IMO):

Kreider-Richards-Nash
Pouliot-Brassard-Zuccarello
Pyatt-Lindberg-Fast
Boyle-Moore-Dorsett

Panthers fan just wondering what the goalie situation is with Hedberg released and Biron MIA. Who's the backup for when the season starts?

so tough decisions still need to be made

Hagelin , Stepan, Callahan( none playing, joy )
Kreider, Richards, Nash
Pouliott, Brassard, Zuccarello
Boyle, Moore, Dorsett
Pyatt, Powe, Asham
Miller, Lindberg, Fast
Kristo, Haley, Mashinter
Hrvik, Yogan

Who would blacklist -31-? 1/20 posts from him are really informative and that is like a top-3 ratio on HFNYR.

I'm about to blacklist him. Getting sick and tired of his avatar. :sarcasm:

I'm kind of thinking the Rangers PR is mistaken.... I can't see how Talbot would be exempt.

In all seriousness, I have no idea why Talbot would be exempt.

Outsider's question here, I see the Rangers have 23 forwards on their roster, but never saw any word on the following players: Taylor Burke (Never saw it confirmed that he was actually there); Josh Graves; Thomas Spelling; and Dyson Stevenson. Were they all released or are any of them still in camp?

Spelling went back to Denmark. His team's season starts on Friday.

Graves was with us in Traverse City. Haven't heard from him at camp. Neither Burke nor Stevenson appear to have actually attended.

EDIT: I went back through some reports. I don't see any of those three listed in any of the camp groups. If they were here, they're certainly not any longer.

The Rangers have been doing some ghost cuts. Skapsi is another who is no longer at camp, but wasn't announced as cut at any time.

If they take 8 d it will be Falk and Bickel with Johnson going down most likely. They make the most sense and Bickel can play forward if need be.

Assuming Stepan comes back:

Hagelin and Callahan to IR:

Kreider-Stepan-Nash
Zuccarello-Brassard-Pouliot
Pyatt-Richards/Lindberg-Kristo/Fast/Richards
Boyle-Moore-Dorsett
Haley/Asham/Powe

So far, that is pretty much how I see it.

I don't think Bickel will start this season on the NHL roster.

I like Syvret better than Johnson so far, though.

Third line is a tough call.

Richards-Lindberg-Fast/Kristo if you are forcing me into making a decision, I think with Richards slowing down he might be better suited on the wing. Only concern is possession and board play.

I am under the assumption that Pyatt will make the team. If that is the case, he will be on the 3rd line. At least until Callahan and Hagelin make their way back.

Let's assume (2) of the following make the team:
Miller
Kreider
Lindberg
Fast
Hrivik

Which isn't a stretch at all, really.

Now let's look at the competent NHL players in camp:
Richards
Brassard
Stepan*
Nash
Callahan **
Hagelin **
Pyatt
Boyle
Dorsett
Moore
Pouliot
Asham
Powe
MZA
Haley - I really think he is a NHL 4th liner at this point

That is 14-15 NHL veterans already. Granted Callahan and Hagelin are hurt for the first month but assuming, say for arguments sake, Kreider and Lindberg make the team. That is 16-17 NHL quality forwards. That also doesn't count players like Mashinter or the other young players who don't make the team right away as quality
depth".

One has to assume that the Rangers will waive a couple of these guys and they will be picked up, no? If Powe is waived, will no team pick him up as a cheap depth forward? Asham? Pyatt?

From Cerny's chat:

Jim Cerny: Rangerfanlam: Top 6 forwards or D? As for prospects, pretty easy to see that, as predicted, Kristo, Lindberg, and Fast are the closest to being NHL players...today AV stated that all 3 "are pushing" for spots, though starting in minors would not be worst thing for any or all of them

They all looked good to me.
