The month of December is where this team will decide how high in the standings it'll will be.

14 games= 10 home, 4 away

Home:
Jets
Devils
Caps
Preds
Blue Jackets
Flames
Pens
Islanders
Wild
Maple Leafs

Away:
Caps
TBL
Panthers
Sabres

Aside from the one Pens game, that's 13 very winnable games.

Why can't they beat the Pens?

So afternoon games this year except Vancouver when I am away during Thanksgiving break. To many games starting at 7:30.

They have a 4pm against San Jose in March. But yeah, I thought there would be more afternoon games. Glad there aren't!

Metropolitan division? ****ing stupid.

It really is.

Made more so by the fact the other "eastern" division is named "Atlantic". How in heck does one name a division "Atlantic" when only two teams of the 8 play in cities located near the Atlantic Ocean.

Detroit, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Tampa Bay, Buffalo...

Only the Bruins and Panthers are on the Atlantic coast. Tampa Bay is on a bay off of the Gulf of Mexico. Toronto and Detroit are no where near the Atlantic.

What moron came up with these names.

"Metropolitain"??? Which Metropolitain area are we talking about? New York. Ok, what about Carolina, Columbus, Washington, Pittsburgh who have nothing to do with the New York Metropolitain area?

My head hurts trying to think of ways to justify how incompetent this league is.

They could easily have put the two Florida teams in our division and moved Pittsburgh and Columbus to the other. Named ours "Atlantic" and theirs "North East".

This is right up there with the glow puck and shootout. Gimmick nonsense.

I don't know whats more stupid, Metropolitan or taking the Atlantic name from us AND GIVING IT TO ANOTHER DIVISION

this is gunna confuse the **** out of new hockey fans when they read up about history, lol

I just posted on the main board, what happens if Seattle gets a team and they're named the Metropolitans?

Edit - I was just reminded that the NY Americans played in the Canadian Division.

Its going to confuse the **** out of someone with at least an elementary school level education. Look at a map and scratch your head trying to make sense of it.

Pejorative Slured monkies working for the NHL.

My guess would be they will be named something that has to do with jets or breaking the sound barrier.

The Manitoba team should not have been named Jets, again. They should have been named Moose. And had that name free for the city nick named "Jet City".

Oh well. NHL's continued lack of foresight and logic.

I think they will go 10-3-1 during those games!

Don't get me wrong. What a division is named is irrelevant.

But really, NHL? Who does your marketing? Because they have consistently produced AWFUL results. It's a lot like Sharknado; does anyone turn that in thinking GUYS! I THINK I'VE GOT IT! WE HAVE A WINNER!

Read the comments on the nhl.com article for some solid humor. Again, I care but I don't care that much. It's more just frustrating that they can roll something out that this many people find laughable. Run some focus groups dudes, with ideally not soccer Moms. Throw a poll up on HFboards. You will probably perform better.

As if the realignment wasn't complete garbage enough. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE scrap this mess in 3 years when they go back and look at it.

RIP Atlantic, you were a 15 year bloodbath and you shall be missed dearly...

I miss it already. Change sucks. lol

I can't lol right now. Four games against the Flyers. FOUR! This is a god damned travesty. Next year: four against the Isles and Devils. But YAY! We get to see the Flames at MSG!

When will Bettman stop ruining my favorite game's best league?

Yeah, it sucks. But what can we do? The silver lining is at least for one last year we don't get screwed having to pay (full price) for meaningless pre-season games. And the long road trip to open the season gives us plenty of time to sell our tickets, particularly for the early season games which are often the hardest to move due to baseball playoffs and the start of football.

honestly who gives a ****.

Exactly. If you're genuinely upset over something like this, take a step back and reevaluate your priorities.

Does the Metro division sound better? Some solid jokes to be had there at least.

So, does anyone have an answer to this question? I understand that the two wild cards can come from the same division, and in that case one of them will cross over and play in the other division's playoff bracket. Let's say that doesn't happen and the wild cards are the Flyers with 90 pts and the Senators with 88 pts. The Penguins own the best record in the Conference, the Bruins win their division with the 2nd best record. Would the Senators then cross over and face the Penguins... with the Flyers crossing over and playing the Bruins, despite the fact that the NHL is pushing the benefits of Divisional playoffs?

I'm getting the sense that this is what would happen. Please tell me that they didn't **** this up that bad. PLEASE!

Top ranked division winner plays #8 seed (2nd wild card.) Other division winner plays #7 seed (1st wild card.)

3 plays 6
4 plays 5

So even if we get 4 playoff qualifiers from each division... they might cross them over anyway.

You know what... I really, really want the above scenario to happen. I want the Penguins 1st and the Flyers 4th, and the Flyers cross over and play in the other division's playoffs anyway. They'll switch the rules the second the Cup is won.
