Early season road trip can be a bonding experience for the team: without distractions they should be able to focus on tactics AV decides to use. I rather get the West Coast trip out of the way early.
The team also will likely come home after their game in St. Louis. The next 3 road games are in Washington, NJ, and Philly, a period of about two weeks between St. Louis on 10/12 and Detroit on 10/26, so that's not to bad. They will likely practice at home and travel to Wash, NJ, and Philly just for the games.
All new division/conference names always sound strange when you are used to something else. Pretty soon Metropolitan Division will be the new norm and sound natural. Many who put it down now will likely be the first to complain when and if it changes again.
Don't think it will be called the Metropolitan Division in everyday talk but will likely be shortened to Metro or the Met.
