I would take Drouin but Mantha outplayed him in the World Juniors which is probably the fairest way to evaluate top prospects head-to-head. I wouldn't be shocked to see both of those players be PPG in the NHL.
It's easier to score in the WJC if you are individually talented because there's little chemistry between players, and defensemen make a lot of mistakes.
Players like Mantha, similar to in major juniors, will dominate smaller players. I watched Mantha every game of the WJC. Horribly inconsistent effort shift to shift. It drove Bob McKenzie and Ray Ferraro up a wall. These habits will get him killed at the NHL level, especially under the reign of Mike Babcock.
I agree that the WJC is great at measuring talents of individuals, but it's not good to compare players head to head. Players that are drafted high typically have skill sets that will translate better to the NHL, ie. Drouin. There's a reason Mantha fell to #20 even though he put up well over a PPG and is 6' 4". That usually screams top 5-10 pick.
