Why? Stralman is one of the better bottom pairing D-man in the league. He can also play in top-4 for short stints and do well there.

Why would he take Strålman's spot and not John Moore's spot?

Guys good for Allen for doing well but he's starting in the ahl. This is a reward so he gets another preseason game. Cap hits like 1.7 and he's not sitting on the bench. Our bud Bickel gets to practice w the team cause he can punch people and is cheap. Top 6 is set and Falk is the 7th

Yeah, I believe so too.

I love Allens performance, but we have a top 6 that won't be broken, I believe, but we have also had a lot of injuries the last couple of years. If McD/Staal/MDZ/Moore goes down (the left handed D's), Allen could possibly come in and do quite will and who knows what would happend after that. But right now I think our top 6 will stick.

I do not believe this is the case, but if AV is really concerned by how our Ds are moving the puck, and Allen just excells out there on the ice in the rest of the games he is given, I do not think Strålman is first in line to end up on the outside looking in. I think John Moore is an excellent option to replace McD/Staal, he is quite similar to them, but at this point somewhat more of what we already have. I have not at all been impressed with MDZ play on the right side of the ice. Is it easier for Allen to play on the off side? If MDZ is moved off the RD position we get a log-jam at LD, who moves out, him or Moore? The later I would guess.

For the Rangers, barring injury, it makes total sense. He's basically signed to a 1 year deal. If he plays like he did in 11-12, he will get a deal from somebody else, which would at least be decent. If he does suck, which could legitimately happen, then they will keep him for probably 25 games and then demote him to Hartford to get $925,000 back. THEN, and only then would I not let him play hockey I order to keep him from injury.

They can't demote him to Hartford. He has a NMC.

Also if he were to waive that NMC and someone claimed him off waivers, the Rangers would suffer a huge cap penalty should he retire before his contract ends. They have to keep him around until the end of the season and they have to give him the compliance buyout next summer.

If this team lines up with Powe,Pyatt and Boyle in the line-up,its the same team. The coach wants to play fast. Puck possession. Push the pace. Another season of wasted hockey.

They let him stay on this roster for a reason. The Rangers kept him to see if there was any gas left in the tank and it would be a total waste to keep him in the press box.

If we ever get to a point where we feel that BR isn't helping the team or at least not by any substansial margin, we will sit him out to avoid injuries.

However, BR has tremendous offensive instincts, a good shot etc. We cannot judge him by how he looks in pre-season games on a unit where two players, Chris Kreider and MDZ, clearly are not comfortable in the roles they are playing (in MDZ's case, as a RD). We basically knew how he would look in that position before we signed him. He has several times during his career before been like a 0.75 PPG player.

Kundratek said he wanted to leave. The destroys a guys value.

And he wasn't that promising. Rangers fans overrated him.

He was going to be at best a #4.

And they got a AHL scrub. They couldn't get a Newbury or someone like that either? Crap.

Agreed. More of the same. Square pegs for round holes.

Why would he take Strålman's spot and not John Moore's spot?

Why would he take either ones spot?

Rangers fans love their new shiny toys.

John Moore has been fantastic this off-season. One of the few d-men who has looked ready.

Haley just didn't seem to mesh with anyone. I want him to improve and stick around, but throwing around a bunch of random hits and "showing heart' isn't good enough.

I disagree...I think the biggest thing missing from the Rangers last year was heart. They didn't have an Avery or Prust to spark the crowd or the team. They kept all their emotions in the locker room. Maybe the fear of torts, maybe just not the right set of guys. I'm happy we have Dorset, but Haley deserves a chance to make a difference on this team. Hes a good soldier and would make a great teammate. He plays with 110% every shift and that sort of thing is contagious. Also...nobody...and i mean nobody had any fear of the rangers last year toughness-wise.

Of all the fringe players this year, I believe he was going to be the one to make the most difference for the team. I was VERY disappointed when I heard he got sent down. I also think it was the biggest pre-season head scratchier since "We have better player than Sean on this team right now". It's not that I'm saying that he deserves to player over players like Pyatt...I think he makes the team on his own merrit...not just by default.

Step about to sign. New lineup update.

Kreider--Stepan--Nash
Fast--Brassard--Zuccarello
Pouliot--Richards--Miller
Boyle--Moore--Dorsett

2nites lineup will help.

Gonna agree with 11 of the 12 Forwards but sadly Pyatt is going to be in for Fast. I have no idea how they are going to mix up the lines but Miller and Kreider likely stick.

well they are only going to carry 3 spares. Falk and Bickel are the 7/8 Dmen. Asham and Powe are going down eventually or traded or waived to another team. They may stay for a bit with Cally/Hagelin out

Jim O'Brien was waived today. I wonder if the Rangers would have any interest as their 13th forward...

would add more size and scoring over Powe and Pyatt... id gladly take a chance on O'Brien... former 1st round pick in 2007... i hope NYR management try to put in a claim....
