Injury Report: 2013-2014 Injury News/Discussion (11/9: Nash skates, Pyatt concussed)

I agree, they do need a chance but is this organization ready to make the tough decisions and roll with the punches while some of these kids get an opportunity? It's just that we are in win now mode so these kids basically have to set the world on fire right away or they get sent back down. If we really want to see what they got we have to be willing to sacrifice our position in the standings to allow them enough games to prove themselves.
 
You can still win with a couple of kids in the line-up. This team did go to the CF a couple of seasons ago with quite a young roster. You can hide a couple of young forwards. They're not young D-man.

Get rid of Pyatt and move Boyle to the wing and let some of the guys play up here.

Now, unless Fast ****'s in his pants while Hagelin is out, I will find it quite disturbing if he's sent down and Pyatt is kept, when Hagelin gets back.
 
Somebody wrote we played Nash injured in the playoffs last season.

Why do we do this?! It's like the team staff and the opponents are trying to kill our team. Gaborik also looked injured in the Playoffs two seasons ago. Was it Torts decision? Somebody elses?

If Nash goes down ... this place will become hell. The two big deals of he last two season will get as loopsided as they could get.

We are loosing bodies by the game ... next game on wednesday. Can't cure the people instantly :(
 
Without functioning Nash, we really don't have any scoring threats. However, I think that with him out it forces guys to pass more to other people instead of "Only to Nash" is what I call it. Happened when Gaborik was out too. Team managed to score then, and hopefully they can now.

We're pretty much back to 2010-11 now when the Pack line, the Engine Room line (Boyle/Prust/Feds) and Stepan along with two random wingers of the week carried the team for three months.

The only problem now is that team was much better than this collection of misfits. Grittier group.

I REALLY hope they start combining guys based on strengths. Callahan and Fast NEED to play together even if one is on the off wing. Fast needs PP time as well.

Brassard needs a gritty guy with him like a Miller or Kreider or even a guy like Kristo who will shoot and ask questions later. I know Brassard and Kristo=defensive nightmare but they're gonna have to live with it.

This team needs an identity because right now, it's just parts.
 
I'd love to know what youve all seen out of Fast to say he deserves more minutes.

If Hags and Nash were in the lineup I'd say send him down

I think it's more of what you haven't seen... Minimal turnovers, no stupid moves with the puck, he's not slow...

Some guys are better off unnoticed. Given it's his first year on North American ice, he's worth a shot

He can skate up the ice with the puck and speed unlike half the other wingers on this team. He's been pretty good along the boards. He's a good passer. He's been fine on the PK. And he can receive a pass (gasp!!!!)

Yes he had two bad defensive mistakes in the past two games but that's growing pains and not like it cost them the game single handedly.

He needs to be put with players who are quicker and more talented that compliment his game. It's very early in his career and he's not gonna lead a line, but there's no reason he can't be the third piece of a puzzle and help to actually have one coherent line.

Calmness with the puck under pressure, skill, skating ability, tenacity. He's been better than Boyle, Pyatt, Pouliot, Moore, or Dorsett.

He definitely should be playing with players like that. I think his future is as someone , like you said, who can be a very good complimentary 3rd piece on an offensive line. He's made some defensive mistakes but again he is a rookie. Down the line, once he settles in, I think he can contribute a lot in a role like that.

I don't think he will ever be a 1st liner but not every player has to be to be successful. It's about finding proper roles for players and using them there which is something this franchise seems to have trouble with.
 
Crosby got concussed about as badly as possible and he came back eventually so I have to think Nash can come back. Then again we seem to have horrendous luck with concussions.. Sauer, Staal, Nash, every year a big time player of ours...I could imagine it getting so bad that we need to use a buyout on nash but we won't be able to buyout both him and Richards. I do not legitimately this would be an option (buying Nash out) I'm just kind of saying "with our luck"
 
I didn't see this posted anywhere -- This isn't really an injury per se, but it seems likely Del Zotto will be out of the lineup tonight with the flu.

New York Rangers defenseman Michael Del Zotto missed practice Tuesday because he has the flu and did not travel for his team's game against the Washington Capitals on Wednesday.

"He is not flying in [Tuesday], he's not feeling well," Rangers coach Alain Vigneault told reporters. "We'll see how he feels [Wednesday], but unless energy-wise he feels a lot better, he's not going to play."
