Yeah what worries me about this is that the hit to his head was dirty sure, but it wasn't what I would call such a violent or overly hard, forceful hit that one would think would result in such severe PCS. Maybe it was just me but watching the hit in normal speed it didn't seem like the hardest elbow to the head. Maybe my memory is hazy and people will say that it was still a direct shot to the head, etc. and they have a point but looking at how Sauer hit is head on the boards/ice a few years ago and the hit to Nash I think the difference I am trying to get at is clearer. With the Sauer hit I could kind of tell/expect it as a bad concussion, with Nash the hit didn't lead me to beleive he'd be out for months.

Obviously speaks to how different brain trauma is for everyone but if this is how nash reacts to a hit like that, it's scary to think what his condition would be if he came back and got laid out with a huge hit that resulted in a more forceful hit to the head.

Every year it feels like the number of concussed players increases. I wonder how much of it could be neck related and is getting misdiagnosed a little. What separates a hockey player, from, say, a boxer/MMA fighter? Perhaps the answers doesn't lie entirely in better equipment. Perhaps a different conditioning plan could help. Just musing. To paraphrase Jim Carrey, what I know about concussions could fill an atom-sized piece of toilet paper LOL!

Very concerned about Nash. Might be looking at a replacement long-term.

Mdz , 1st for a young proven scorer like
E.Kane or Eberle

Nyr can't maximize their 1st round picks anyway so might as well trade them for a proven scorer

Jets given up Kane for MDZ? What kind of drugs would be needed?

I'm pretty good with the CBA, but in this ins yr acne am slightly confused. Since Nash has been out for 11 games, could they not put him on LTIR to open up can space now as well as at the deadline? Would those dollars being off now add to the total for then?

A strength and conditioning coach that I know was recently blaming the uptick in concussions on lack of neck strength in athletes.

Of course this was coming from a man with no neck at all. So consider the source.

no you can't bank cap space for later...LTIR would allow us to go over the cap by the amount of nash's salary but we'd have to clear space to get back under the cap to take nash off LTIR so he can play...

it could be used for some short term flexibility to prevent our hands being forced on certain moves...but not too much benefit unless nash is going to be out a long time.

Nash > LTIR > retirement
He is not coming back.

Sauer
Cherepanov
Nash
We are lucky that McD is still around after the head shots he has taken.
Stepan is a target.
The King is a target.

Bad luck + intent to injure is our new curse.

So Loui Eriksson is back from his concussion tonight after a vicious elbow from Scott.....Nash, Where Are You ????

Hopefully he will come back this season

@darenmillard: Hearing good things regarding rick nash. @ the practice facility, skated. Not day to day but is week to week. Good sign.

Millard is usually spot on so that's a good sign, but who knows how he reacts following his skate sessions. At least positive news!

Part of me feels like they just wanted to leak something like this. Wouldn't we hear something like Nash has started working out or something along those lines before right back to skating on the ice?

Don't get me wrong i'd love this news...just seems strange.

Zipay shooting it down.

Steve Zipay ‏@stevezipay 4m
Have been told that's incorrect RT @bill_goldthorpe: @stevezipay tweet is from @darenmillard re Nash

Like someone said, Millard is credible. While Zipay said it's incorrect, I think that there's a good chance that he got the information from a solid source, meaning that there is good news regarding Nash. Hopefully

I'd like to believe the Nash sighting, but Gross was at practice today and said:
Missing from practice, of course, was Rick Nash (concussion), who remains status quo, meaning the team is reporting no improvement and he has not been seen around the practice facility.

I'll take the word of the person who was there.

Nash isn't going to jump right back in with the Rangers practice. He'd be skating on his own at a different time, which is essentially what Millard said--not that Nash was at the team practice.

Cautiously optimistic.

I'm not sure why you think Gross wouldn't be aware of what's going on around practice. Plus, he's around the team a lot (except for the west coast swings) and generally has good information. And Zipay also shot down the rumor. I'm just more inclined to believe the people around the team on a regular basis.

Zipay also once reported that Brad Stuart was traded to the Rangers at the deadline, iirc. Who is to say that Nash skated right before or after practice? It could have been hours before or after when none of the beatwriters were around. Millard is a solid source and it should be apparent that the Rangers's beatwriters have not been getting regular updates about Nash's status, so I don't find it shocking that a national writer may have received a report from someone in the organization that Zipay and Gross were not privy to.
