I HATE suggesting this, but if Nash is seriously affected by this, as in, half the player he used to be, do we consider using the amnesty buyout on him instead of a rebounding Richards?

i was one of gabs like 5 supporters on this board. i love the guy he played great. on his off seasons he was still a 20+ goal scorer. however if we still had gabby could you imagine where we would be? we still wouldnt have nash. we also wouldnt have brass moore or dorsett.

bottom 6 is disgusting. we would also be playing a decent ahl dman at best consistently. we wouldnt be able to role 4 lines of forwards and 3 d pairings if not for the gaborik trade. i cant say this for certain but i wouldnt be surprised if some of the people who miss gabs and want him back were calling for his head not even a year ago and especially during the 2012 playoffs. some of them are probably the people who think dubi would make us a top team again. gaborik cost nothin but money and he was done here. he didnt seem to want to play under torts anymore so we traded him for 3 solid players who gave us depth.

No because his contract doesn't have a recapture penalty. We can always just trade him if it ever comes down to it.

You're forgetting someone very important.

I'm so confused by the last page

Anyway, we all know Callahan's due back in roughly a week... Nash, like I said, we just have to play on without him in the roster until he is 100% cleared and good to go, which no one knows, not even Rick or really anyone. They're tricky and can be predicted regarding returning to health but not pinpointed.

The other two years he wasn't good at all though. When you're getting paid like he was and touted like he's been you'd think he wouldn't have two bad seasons in four.

I don't really think 48 points in 62 games is "not good at all." Not as good as he should've or could've been, for sure, but it was still a 22 goal season. Bad for Gaborik, sure, but certainly not bad in a vacuum.

Bob Crawford ‏@HawkCrawford 11m

Unfortunate sight in 1st period, Jesper Fast had to be helped off ice after falling in corner, not putting any weight on one leg.

Hopefully this isn't related to his previous ankle injury from when he was in Sweden..

The guy had half his goals in 3 games, 2 of which were blowouts I believe, against terrible teams.

Found a mention of Fast's injury:

AHL INJURY NEWS
Right wing Jesper Fast sprained his ankle playing for the Rangers’ AHL affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack, in Saturday’s 3-2 loss to the Springfield Falcons. Fast reportedly was not putting any weight on leg while being helped off the ice during the first period.

Fast made the Rangers’ roster out of training camp and played eight of 10 games while on the roster, before the Blueshirts sent him down to the AHL on Monday night to make room for Hagelin, who returned from injury.

Fast was minus-five with no points in those eight games but, when healthy, he remains on the short list of players the Rangers would call up when they require an extra forward.

With the Ducks and Penguins upcoming as opponents, it wouldn’t be surprising to see either Danny Kristo or Marek Hrivik get a call-up.

Obviously, no mention of whether or not it was the same leg. Of course, we all know that there are varying degrees of sprains and it could well take him quite a while to get back, but I am still always relieved to hear "sprain" rather than "torn ligament requiring surgery."

So we don't trade for Nash- but somehow we lose Anisimov, Dubinsky, and Erixon? I don't understand.

We'd have:

Kreider-Stepan-Zucc
Hagelin-Richards-Gabby
Dubinsky-Anisimov-Callahan
Boyle-Moore-Asham

McDonagh-Girardi
Staal-Stralman
DZ-Erixon

Gabby was a horrible fit for Torts system but I agree he may have fit in really well with the AV system but that wasn't known at the time. Gabby was a defensive liability. I still think it was a good trade that will benefit both teams in the long run unless Nash has a long-term concussion issue.

I love these statements.

Guy had two 40+ goal seasons with torts but he was " horrible fit "..... yeah he didn't play on the PK blocking shots but a guy like gabs can score goals in any system

In games where gaborik didn't have space to do his thing and the team collectively had to try and grind out a win he didn't fit the system, so that statements not completly off.
