Does the service still suffer from stuttering on HD feeds? It's cheaper than me paying for GameCenter + a VPN/proxy service to avoid the blackouts, plus I'd get AHL games...

But in the past the stuttering was too bad to allow me to watch games in HD, which is a shame because I'd send the video via HDMI to my big-screen HDTV...or would if the game wouldn't stutter, that is...

There was initial stutter for me when launching a feed in VLC but after a minute it was little to none ever.

Newbury had an 11-game call-up during his first full campaign with the Rangers, 2010-11, but saw that dip to seven games the following season and just six games last year. Meanwhile, others who played the same position as him – but produced far fewer points – got much lengthier NHL looks.

“That’s why I was a little frustrated here,†Newbury said. “I was putting up decent numbers in the American League and didn’t feel like I was getting the shot that I deserved. I think change is good at this point. I go in with a fresh, clean slate into Philadelphia. I’m really looking forward to it.â€

Is this guy kidding?

I'm not surprised with what Newbury said and as far as I'm concerned he had a right to say it. Don't think he's more than a bubble player, but he has a right to dream about being more than that.

He's right. From a player's perspective, there's no other opportunity left for him to earn other than a chance to legitimately flame out at the NHL level.

The times he played for us he was fine and in another organization could definitely earn a longer look.

Newbury has been a productive AHL player for a while now. If he were in your organization you wouldn't want him thinking he wasn't capable of making it--I mean really. He has dreams and goals like any other player and he's had quite a bit of success at the AHL level. There's no reason for him to not think he can't make it.

Stream quality on NHL games is as good as Game Center, if not better. And no blackouts is accurate. I'm certain that the service is technically illegal, though it has somehow been around for years without incident.

It almost sounds too good to be true. I bought GameCenter last year cause I wanted to follow games around the NHL and because my little brother goes to Rowan so he wouldn't have been able to watch Rangers games, cause Rowan is Philly market. Well because GameCenter is stupid they still blacked out the Rangers game and didn't air them on TV so he had to watch the games on other sites like streamo and firstrowsports.

Looks like I found my new website.

did Newbury not resign on a two yr deal last yr? Why would he not just leave? Hes a career minor leaguer, the end.........does well the AHL sure but then he goons it up in the NHL and stinks

He probably thought he still had a chance to make the team.

Because Newbury's goal--like every other professional player is to play in the NHL. Not for a game or two, but every game. He doesn't think of himself as a minor leaguer and he shouldn't. End of story.

Didn't Hrivik say something along those lines as well?

No, he said he was wondering how last season would have gone had he not gotten that 2nd concussion as he thought he was close to being NHL ready. Which is true. IMO, if he was healthy, he would have played at least 20 games in the NHL. Kid is a good one.

I think Noreau starts in the ECHL. McIlrath, Klassen, Bickel, Johnson, Syvret, Folk and Allen will almost certainly be ahead of him, and that's 7 defensemen. Even if one of them disappoints, Noreau is still not in the top-6. He really needs to turn it up in preseason to win a spot in the AHL.
Noreau is probably better off starting on the first pairing in the ECHL anyway, unless he really impresses in the training camp.

Noreau and Hughes may go back to Junior for average year.
Any of the pro-rookies may spend time in ECHL - even Allen or F's like Kantor, Nicholls, probably not St. Croix.
To my knowledge Klassen is not signed, 'Hawk' Crawford says the only current AHL contract is Tessier, so Klassen and Piche, Johnston, Hobbs and Flanigan are currently not still in the system.
I expect Falk to stay up, Johnson may join Syvret at Hartford as vets for the very young D-corps. Don't know what to expect re Bickel, sometimes he seems over-matched as NHL D-man, but his toughness can be an plus.

Always liked Tessier, he worked his butt off. Always a fan favorite despite not being a leading scorer.

Same here, but with the likely addition of Lindberg and St. Croix, we are ok. I do hope they will bring back Wiebe. I like him more than Jean.

Jean was so puzzling. Had that hot start and then did almost nothing. Wiebe was looking awesome, will probably be the next Tessier. And you're right, there are always additions that make guys like Tessier expendable in the AHL. That's why teams change so much in this league.

I'm so excited for the return of the Pack!! :)

Pack signed Andrew Carroll thursday, i guess to play the newbury/segal older mentor forward role.
IMHO jordie johnston earned a re-sign with his productive rookie-pro season w GvRW, but we have a lot of forwards, so i dont expect it

So Carroll and Klassen have AHL deals as of now. Nobody else?

is Klassen signed?
had not seen that;

eliteprospects lists his last contract as 12-13,
and Hawk Crawford said he was unsigned
(but Hawk had written that the one Whale/WP continuing AHL contract that was in place was Tessier, and that wasn't true, KT is going to Europe)

i have the D corps under contract as
Bickel, Syvret, Johnson
McIlrath, and the first year pros - Allen, Noreau, Hughes

and Noreau can be sent back to Junior, as 'over-ager', not sure if Hughes can, he turned 21 in April
