Niemis status is a bit uncertain. It has been reported that he left for Europe and signed a contract there - but capgeek.com still lists him as an RFA.
[UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENTS
Jyri Niemi, Nick Palmieri, Michael Sauer
The players were not tendered a qualifying offer and are therefore Unrestricted Free Agents not subject to a right to match or draft choice compensation

Rangers did not qualify Niemi so he's now a UFA.

Saw that, guess you are correct but capgeek is usually on the money...

Niemi was not qualified--it was announced by the Ranger organization and Andrew Gross, who follows the Rangers, reported it. He is no longer part of the Ranger organization. Capgeek had more important fish to fry than some nobody buried in the AHL.
Its going to be an exciting team next year. A lot of firepower with the the new players like Fast, Lindberg, MSC. Another year of Miller who should improve and hopefully a full season with Hrivik.
We'll probably have more high profile prospects in Hartford than any time in recent memory. Fast, Lindberg, Miller, McIlrath, Hrivik, St. Croix, McIlrath, Allen, and on and on. So many guys that have good to great NHL potential.

Those who don't want AHL lifers on the squad have no idea what they are talking about. These AHL rookies are beyond raw. By the time they get to the NHL, they fix 90% of their problems, yet the other 10% still makes them a problem. When they first reach the AHL, they look like they never played hockey before.
An AHL team with only young prospects will be a disaster. They will lose by a half dozen goals almost every game.
As long as they are developing the prospects I don't care if they lose by 6 a night
realize its early but thoughts on the projected blueline if the rangers end up sending 2 or all 3 of johnson, syvret and johnson to hartford to be stored in case of injuries...
obviously mcilrath gets a top spot...do connor allen and sam noreau also get spots? or will noreau end up in the echl?
I think Noreau starts in the ECHL. McIlrath, Klassen, Bickel, Johnson, Syvret, Folk and Allen will almost certainly be ahead of him, and that's 7 defensemen. Even if one of them disappoints, Noreau is still not in the top-6. He really needs to turn it up in preseason to win a spot in the AHL.
Noreau is probably better off starting on the first pairing in the ECHL anyway, unless he really impresses in the training camp.

Bickel is a NYR lock. Watch and see

You don't do much developing getting blown out every night.
Players only develop when they win? Lol

Does the service still suffer from stuttering on HD feeds? It's cheaper than me paying for GameCenter + a VPN/proxy service to avoid the blackouts, plus I'd get AHL games...www.hockeystreams.com
A subscription gets you NHL, AHL, all three leagues in the CHL, KHL and some other stuff. Quality is always pretty good on the AHL stuff but varies by arena. I didn't use AHL Live last season so I can't speak to the quality of that. HS is a good deal. For the NHL, you can also choose home or away feed.

But in the past the stuttering was too bad to allow me to watch games in HD, which is a shame because I'd send the video via HDMI to my big-screen HDTV...or would if the game wouldn't stutter, that is...
