Greenville won their preseason opener 5-4 in the shootout. No one that anyone cares about did anything of note.

Weird box score out of Greenville. They played the game one skater short of a full bench, but the following did not suit up: St. Croix, Nicholls, Carroll, Marcou, Klassen, Dodero, and last year's captain, Sean Berkstresser. Jeff Malcolm sat on the bench. By my count, three Rangers/Pack guys suited up and six did not dress.

Not gonna lie, after the last couple of seasons I have sort of stopped keeping track of the Whale/Wolfpack.

I'm still getting used to seeing this thread bolded and checking it again.

I credit this success to Brodie Dupont, btw.

Love that they now wear the NYR shield logo instead of the statue of liberty logo on their new jerseys... The blue road jersey hast to be one of the nicest/classiest jerseys in hockey, the color combo, lines, numerals and font... Love it! The pack is back!

From what I hear they won't be back for long. Moving cities in three years or less. They brought the Pack stuff back just to use up excess inventory.

I went to Hartford's home opener, it was dead, the building was quiet. I don't know official attendance, but I'd be shocked to hear it was over 1,000

Went to the Phantoms home opener (against Hartford) and it was packed. Nearly 5,000. Building was a rocking. That building is a dump but it draws people in because of it's cheap entertainment value, maybe the Pack should move to that building since I believe the Phantoms are out of there next season?

Yes they are moving to Allentown, Pennsylvania next August, I am buying season tickets possibly.

The official numbers were around 6500 (don't remember the exact number) for the home opener in Hartford this year. It was the lowest number in years (maybe since the franchise was there), however, there were certainly more than 5000 people in the house. Part of the reason that it looked less than 5000 is the size of the arena--its too big for what the team is expected to draw.

The opener seemed to have had about 5,000, but the next two games, on Sunday and on the following Friday, drew hundreds at best.

I think moving the Wolf Pack to Bridgeport would be a smart move. Closer to NYC, accessible via the Metro North, etc. If that were the case I would definitely attend at least a few games each year, and I'm sure others that live in the city would do the same.

Weren't we entertaining the idea of playing the farm club in the old Islanders stadium?

I think that idea died when MSG lost on the bid for the arena. If they had won, they promised to move at least one of their teams to the Nassau. After that the idea became Sound Tigers to the Nassau and the Wolf Pack to Bridgeport.

G Jeff Malcolm recalled to WP, G Biron and F Asham sent down to WP, F Jason Wilson reassigned from ECHL Greenville to CHL Wichita (ouch!)

Asham will report, Biron's decision what he'll do is still unknown.

Wilson couldn't even make it through the ECHL camp and preseason? He's done. You don't reach the NHL after getting sent to the CHL.

If Malcolm plays well this year, he'll earn an NHL deal. Biron and Stajcer are almost certainly gone after this season. Missiaen is RFA as well and if he struggles, he's gone. We'll need more goaltenders.

Stajcer had his what, 3rd hip surgery already? Missiaen is in a bubble year, do well and become a mainstay AHL goalie, or become a career ECHLer. I know nothing about Malcolm, excited to see what he's got. And yes, Biron is done.

Rangers system is so brutally thin on G depth... Missiaen is now the no. 3 goalie... Scary. Where is JF Labbe when u need him lol

It may be, but drafting is never needed for young goalie depth. Every year, good undrafted options in Europe and the NCAA become available.

their is a difference in goaltending depth and talented goaltending depth that has a chance to be an NHL player or a chance to get traded to help the team elsewhere...

i wish NYR had the depth like the Kings and Leafs have had with goaltenders.. like when the Kings and Leafs did that Bernier trade this summer. i wish NYR had that goaltending depth... not the depth of the Flyers with changing goalies every 2 years

Rangers swapped Missiaen and Talbot, ostensibly to get Talbot a start.
