I still can't believe some idiot Debbie fan was saying Mac is a crappy skater. It's unbelievable and just shows you how much hockey some of those guys actually watch. The kid's shot looks really, really good and he's a heck of a skater for his size.

McIlrath is a bust AHL for lifer but Alexander Urbom is the next great physical shutdown D, in case you've forgotten.

Disappointed to see Hrivik a scratch. Bourque is meh. Jean just sucks.

There was a flu bug that knocked out all of them. They are listed as healthy scratches because they aren't injured, just sick. All will be back as soon as the fever is down.

That's what happens when you have someone like Conte go on a huge streak of drafting great players. They think everyone he picks is gold even though he hasn't had a good draft since Parise's.

People on here treat Gordie Clark like he's been on a streak of great drafting. Has our drafting been THAT much better ?

I think it clearly has been better. We're pretty consistently getting NHL players out of every draft, and not 4th line/bottom pair scrubs either. We're getting alot of good 2nd/3rd line Fs and 2nd pairing Ds. My only complaint would be the lack of elite Fs, but our prospect pool is certainly a whole heck of a lot better than the devils. The devils having the oldest team in the league (older than any other team by almost a full year) can attest to that.

Good to see the kids contributing in Hartford.
I don't think any one of them should be called up, let them get more confidence in the AHL instead of being part of the mess the Rangers are currently.
We have some one eyed experts on these boards who are very disappointed. I have no idea why but some cheer for the prospects to fail. :shakehead

If McI keeps this play up for a few months, could we possibly see one of the Rangers NHL D-Men moved at the deadline for help up front (if its needed that is)?

I don't think so. NYR wouldn't want to move a roster player for help if it they're in playoff position. If we're out of it, I could see something being done for futures (picks and/or a high-end offensive prospect). Otherwise, I would look for something to happen in the offseason.

I too hope McIrath can come mid year.. we need that toughness on the backend, have to many free skating dmen on the backend..

stralman I want replaced by McI

DZ should be traded/packaged for a top 6.. we shouldve went for bobby ryan

however...i think rangers have drafted excellent post 2004-05 lockout..

all our first round picks for the most part have excelled and are NHL quality players and will be one day.. I am not saying all-stars but all are everyday top 6 (d) and top 9 quality players.. most teams arent that successful..

1395 games for Devils draftees to 2001 for Rangers since the lockout.

Rangers impact players: Marc Staal, Carl Hagelin, Artem Anisimov, Derek Stepan, Michael Del Zotto (Sauer would have been had he not been injured)

Devils impact players: Adam Henrique, Adam Larsson (potentially)

Once again, the drafting and development went from nothing before the 2004-05 lockout to just happy to see young players like Hollweg in the lineup to fairly good players like Cally, Hags, etc.

So they went from an F to a C and now are hovering around the B range.

The final step is to get high end impact players. It might be with this group of first/second year pros, and it might be the Buchnevich/Nieves/Duclair group in 24 months.

We have to wait and see.
