Have to wonder who drove the notion that the Rangers needed to trade for Erixon.

Tim Erixon has 22 points in 23 games in the AHL this year. Was that our puckmover that is gearing up for NHL hockey now that was "basically" traded for John Moore in the Nash/Gabby sweepstakes? Not sure that this was a win trade

How many points would John Moore have in the AHL? Erixon was supposed to be NHL-ready a couple years ago and hasn't been able to stick. Maybe he ends up better than Moore, but he's not right now.

Just to add, Erixon is behind Nikita Nikitin, David Savard and Dalton Prout on Columbus' depth chart. Those guys all range from mediocre to good, but none of them are much-heralded former first round picks. I still think pretty highly of Erixon at this point, but honestly, his development has been a bit underwhelming.

Enticing as it is to be Nostradamus, Erixon is a PPG D in the AHL now. What Moore would put up there now nobody knows - but there are a certain amount of prophets here that apparently know what would happen in any given scenario.

No, I don't claim to know.

There are lots of PPG players in the AHL right now, and only a fraction of them are real prospects. Erixon IS a real prospect, but AHL production is just that--AHL production. Should we be impressed and regret dealing him? Why hasn't the polished prospect been able to crack the NHL?

I didn't think it was very hard to infer what his point was. John Moore sticking at the NHL level for a solid team with a lot of defensive depth is inherently more impressive than anything (realistic) Tim Erixon could do in the AHL.

Moore would have much less points than Erixon in the AHL. Tim is better than Moore at both ends of the ice.

It's my belief that Moore would be a middle pairing defenseman in the AHL right now.

It means little though, because they were part of 2 separate trades. It's foolish to look back and criticize Sather for every bad trade he has made. He has made plenty of great ones.

A. He can't be sent down.

B. Realistically there is nobody to take his place. Connor Allen and McIlrath could but both have 0 NHL experience and would need to be eased in. The Rangers are in a precarious position and don't have time for that.

Moore is playing in the NHL, yeah, but it's pretty badly.

However, we didn't do Gabby and Erixon for the meh CBJ return. Erixon went for Nash, so it's hard to look back in hindsight at Tim's production when Nash is playing like he has for the past 2 weeks.

I am beginning to think that Sather sux at trades too

We obviously are offensively tainted

The recent MDZ for Kline trade addresses none of that
Including Erixon (that cost quite a bit to get IMO) in the Nash trade was another Sather miscalculation by assuming MDZ was going to become more than he actually was/could be (otherwise MDZ could have been traded then when his value was high - maybe also saving Anisimov or the 1st rounder - instead of dumping Erixon)
Trading Korpedo on the verge of a breakout for the birdbrain Lisin another one
The Clowe trade worked out nicely - did it not? :shakehead
Anyone remember our John Scott deadline pickup?:naughty:
The Beach trade for Mashinter is another (albeit small) mindnumbing headshaker
Zherdev trade went sour too. Although that trade was probably a trade to make
Drafting McIllraith instead of Tarasenko or Fowler was another huge mistake (for offense) that I called from Day 1 too.

The Prust and McD trades were good though - but have to be seen as exceptions more than the rule of Glens BS magic wand ability

Pack down 2-0 early.

Edit: Late second Fast scores, down 4-1.

Edit 2: Fast scores again early in the 3rd. Real nice shot.

Like how Erixon would be a superstar defenseman for us, putting up 80 points? :shakehead

You complain about our 21 year old defenseman not being in the NHL.
Then you get mad that we traded away, what is now a 22 year old not in the NHL.

Seems like you're just looking for reasons to complain about this team

To be crystal clear Mr Kreider - PPG in AHL does not translate to the same in the NHL. Where did I insinuate that?
Nor did I mention superstar or anything of that caliber
Just said Erixon could have provided much needed offense in NYC in the future
And that we have been blowing legitimate opportunities to add such offense constantly (or been losing it through lousy trades) because our GM is a moron
You are making things up as if I said them which I did not
Get a life before making such statements
Or have another drink

He put up great numbers in the AHL 2 years ago too
And even more so last year

And yet, he couldn't produce at all in the few NHL games he played.

You clearly implied that Erixon would have been a better option than Moore, yet Erixon has disappointed at the NHL level for 3 straight seasons, while Moore has stuck in the NHL for 3 seasons.

Guys lets talk about the Pack! There's some pent up MDZ drama and J. Moore Analysis better used in other posts.

Tim Erixon is in the AHL. And he's just ok. J. Moore is in the NHL. You don't need to add anything to that. MDZ, J.Moore, Erixon are all young players and who knows where they will be in 5 years. All have similar assets and upside. You can't hoard players with similar skills if you want to be a Stanley Cup contender. If Rick Nash keeps playing this way - he adds something no one we gave up could have contributed to NYR. The key is having players like Lindberg, Fast, Miller, Kristo to potentially add elements and diversity to the Rangers club by continuing to improve in Hartford. If they can mature and enhance their skillsets, I believe they are all better players than a Dubinsky, or an Ani. Frankly J.Moore is better than Erixon. No one should be talking about Erixon anymore. Regarding MDZ, lets drop it. He didnt materialize. There was no offensive contribution and his defense was inconsistent. Time waits for no one- you got an asset today in Klein who makes an immediate impact, and you still have J.Moore developing very similar skills to DZ.

Fast has been playing well. Both he an Lindberg are having nice seasons. Well, for Fast, he's good when he's healthy. Fast in particular I think will fit well in AV's system.

Hartford win 6-3 against Adirondack.

2 goals from Fast. Goal from Hrivik. Goal from Beach (!!!). Empty netter from McI. Miller fought again.

Miller is crazy good at the AHL level. Considering that he's the same age as AHL rookies (20 years old), it's insane. He's gpt 18 points in 15 games, which is on pace for almost 100 points over 82 games.

Fast is getting better quickly. There's no way he's still in the minors a year from today.

And he was already one of the forwards that AV trusted most defensively coming out of camp.

Sounds like a natural replacement for Cally at 3rd line RW to me...

I was thinking this too.

He's being put in a position where he can succeed if he were to take Callahan's spot.

5 unanswered goals from the Pack after being down 3-1. Pack also tallied up 5 10-minute misconducts penalties for everything from continuing altercation to abuse of officials. And in Greenville's game, Noreau got a game misconduct (and almost certainly the 10 game suspension to go with it) for leaving the bench to jump into a fight in a chippy game.
