Good point. I remember seeing that too, not sure what the threshold was, I think I (mis)remember it being something like 60 games or else the free year kicks in. That would be a kick in the gnads to lose that much money.

FYI

Except for the Winter Classic, NBC's coverage is/was suppose to begin January 19th. Haven't read nor had access to the agreement so I can't say for sure it's not 60 games. But they weren't scheduled to televise 60. Will try and find out.

Yes it looks like I pulled that out of my, erm, the air.

Here is what I found http://articles.philly.com/2012-10-...-winger-wayne-simmonds-nhl-nbc-sports-network

No games this season = free season tacked on. And NBC is paying the league this season despite the lockout. Nice work if you can get it, money for nothing.

When they come to an agreement will they play under an understanding like they did in 94-95 and the new CBA will start for the 2013-2014 season?

Mediators have now been in meeting with the NHLPA for over 2.5 hours. #CBA #TSN

Chris Johnston ‏@reporterchris
Lawyer Shep Goldfein, who represents NHL, told the federal court today that the sides agree they don't need an expedited briefing schedule.

Thanks Dom,

I was about to give up.

I am so sick of waiting for hockey to start.

This sucks. :(

The longer this goes and the nastier it gets the more stuff JJ is going to give us:handclap:...I figure the Legends buffet cuts prices in half, we get sticks, jerseys, photos, maybe 'Bruins Comes to Work or School Day'. I'm not sure who I am going to pick- right now I'm leaning to Ference since I call him Brad by mistake and he lets me get away with it.

The Welcome Fan pack should be pretty good

Maybe the kids should ask to take a Bruin to show and tell. Yours might have to wait for the Blues to come to town:dunno:

Interesting. The NFLPA sued over a similar agreement with their network TV rights, and won. The facts seem similar -- owners putting the players interest at risk to protect their own interest.

I wonder if any legal experts can differentiate the NFL and NHL cases, because I don't recall seeing the NHLPA even raising this issue.

NHLPA conditions for the next CBA to be 10 year. 1-option out after 7 years. 2-minimum salary at $800 000 at year 9. Still no deal on that.

I can not afford to belong to Legends...The "stuff" they have given away the last 3-4 years was so lame I tossed most of it. The "benefits" are usually nothing I would ever be interested in. They hold events days I work instead of a time when I would already be in Boston for a game so I don't go (the "events aren't worth the gas to go to Boston).

I am in a place now of disappointment and close to no longer caring if there is a season. The B's owe me $ 9000. I want a discount on tickets...Lower ticket prices would be a good start...and not just a dollar or two.

We will get nothing of any value :(.

I don't believe the fans are considered at all.

The folks I feel for are the ones who work at or around the arenas and are out of work and struggling to make ends meet.

Sure I will go to the games IF they start up but the B's better win the cup this year;)
The season is tainted for sure.

This is just like the Lost series finale. Terrible.

Just compromis, please.

:laugh: My neighbor and I are watching "Lost" I have it on DVD. She has never seen it. We just started season 2...before it gets REALLY strange.

I really thought the NHL would be back to playing by Jan 1. The people responsible for letting it get this bad are fools. :rant:

I am not angry at the players as they are getting advice on what to do. It's the idiots at the top that I am pissed off at. :(:shakehead:help:

Lady fan...when a bleeds black and gold fan like you is this disgusted the " idiots at the top" should understand that when the lock-out is over the dials don't just re-set to where they were. The damage to fan relations will extend a while. Not saying we won't be going and cheering on the Bs because we will but as I've said before- the Garden related purchases will take a plunge.

I hope "the damage" results in cheaper ticket prices so that I can afford to go to games like after the last lockout.

The latest info coming out now (Friday night) suggests that both sides told the mediator that they have some room to move on open issues. So that's good news. If the mediator can help hold their precious little hands over the next week to soothe the hurt feelings and delicate egos, this should probably get done. There are open issues and both sides are saying they can give something, that means it will inch closer. Slowly, painfully.

Like I said, a step half the distance towards the wall each time, but a step forward nonetheless.

I really have never purchased much at the Garden. My $$$ goes to my ST. Also I save up to do an away game once a year. :(

There are many folks on this board who bleed black and gold....some who can not afford to go to games or live too far away but all huge fans. We are all nuts :nod:

I expect us all to resume our B's love once they start up. I would only hurt myself if I didn't watch the games but I am bitter about this whole lockout. It could easily have been avoided.:(

I hope the damage results in a smaller pie of HRR so everyone will lose even more money.

That and a team that sees his already small fan base become nil so they can be sold and moved to Quebec City.

Yeah that kind of underscores a big part of what sucks about this. The league could be putting its energy and resources towards figuring out how to grow in untapped markets that are begging for NHL hockey. I mean, who does not miss the Nordiques or think there aren't a half dozen cold weather markets in the Canada and even US that could use teams (whether through movement or expansion)? Instead they are wasting all this time on just keeping the status quo going, and damaging the league and brand in the process. The opposite of progress. That's a sad state of affairs.

Cap fight. #NHL wants 60M #NHLPA wants 65M. Diff is 150M available $'s per season to players in system. Over 10 yrs that's 1.5B #areweclose?

~~~
Isn't this wrong? I thought the dispute is the "Year 2" transition year cap. They are moving from effectively $70M or whatever the cap was for this year to $60M, but the union wants next year to be $65M before it steps down to $60M the year after. In which case that's a difference of $150M, not $1.5B (because it applies only 1 year, not 10). Isn't Kypreos wrong about this? Matters a lot as far as understanding what the remaining gap looks like...
I wish I were a billionaire so I could buy up all the tickets to all the areanas for the first week of the season and make a huge bonfire with them. Have them play in front of empty buildings for a week.
They both can go rot in hell. They suck.
I swear, when this gets settled, Bettman had better be fired. I cannot stand looking at his face anymore, and this is coming from someone that supports the owners for the most part. The league desperately needs a facelift. I hope the owners realize this when it's over.
Should we get a hat passed around for this? I'd prefer an empty stands but the owners have to skate around for a charity game.. there will also be glass beer bottles and a few choice words involved. I guess i'm a bit angry right now?:rant:
Have you been receiving refunds at all?
I already have seasons for this year.. no matter what in feb or march i'm gonna ask what will my seats cost (i'm sure i won't get an honest answer) and depending on the price i might renew and then sell all of them for the most money i can possibly get. I want planning on selling those tickets and i kinda felt guilty about it.. now i say **** it I want to make some money of them. Everyone else is being greedy i might as well too. And yes.. let me know i'll give some of you guys face or a little bit higher ;)
(
Susie-Q - I often find it is CHEAPER to see the Bruins when I'm traveling. Pittsburgh, Columbus, NYI, NJ - occasionally Buffalo and Philly I can all go to cheaper than Boston. That's if I'm in one of those cities already for work.
If you ever go to Phoenix to watch hockey - you can usually get tickets for less than $10 bucks a seat.
No refunds...I was foolish enough to take option #1...:shakehead..I thought hockey would be back by now and didn't want a price increase next year. My credit card was just hit for the last payment so I have paid in full.
Oh well...bah...:pout:
