Clutch Lindberg

Lindberg just scored the OT game winner for Skelleftea in game 4 (3-1 SAIK). He added an assist and is now 4-6-10 in 8 PO-games with 59.6% in FO. :handclap:

@LBoork: Oskar Lindberg är nästa stora stjärna i svensk ishockey. VM väntar. NHL väntar. SM-guld väntar?

According to google translate that means: Oskar Lindberg is the next big star in the Swedish ice hockey. World Cup awaits. NHL awaits. Championships await?

Who's the guy who said it though? Is that your twitter handle Ola?

The self proclaimed Oracle Leif Boork. Swedens answer to Don Cherry - in its own little way

You guys should give @aj_ranger a follow. He's provided updates on euro prospects and watches Lindberg play

Google-translated Gordie Clark on Lindberg
http://www.expressen.se/sport/hockey/nhl/rangers-bossen-hyllar-lindberg-herregud/
The 21-year old is red hot and now he is also hailed by the New York Rangers - the club that owns the rights to him.
To SPORT-Expressen, Gordie Clark , the NHL club player director, says the club is ready to bring Lindberg over directly after finals.
And the offensive development this winter is something the Rangers thought barely possible.
- He has a big year now and is a big hope for us too. Last summer at our camp, he was the best player, I promise you. God, we love him as a two-way player. And now he has begun to do offensive things that we hardly believed that he had in himself, says Clark.
- I saw him in the WJC and there he was better than many other Swedish top names. When we saw that we had the chance to draft him we took it immediately.

Lindberg smiles at the words.
- I have received an offensive boost this year. But in the juniors, I was just offensive. Then I got a different role in the SEL-team and had to play more on the fourth line and learn defense.
- It's always nice to hear good words about yourself.
Clarke says that they are ready to pick on you in the spring. Hungry?
- I let all that remain now. Obviously it would be fun to test whether there is a possibility, but as I said, I let it lie for a while now. Those are things you have to take later.
Rangers didn't draft him though, guess he meant trade. ;)

He is a former national team coach and very successful SEL coach that's been around since the early 70's. If you ever see footage of the Swedish National Team with WTF-jersey's on (huge white polar beer), Boork is behind the bench. ;)

But he is definitely a bit of a side show at times. He can say the most stupid things etc., but he do have a great genuine hockey mind.

"Linberg smiles at the words..." has me chuckling to myself. I love google translations.

Anyway, I really love how this guy is constantly driving the net. Dare we hope for an effective three zone player here? That would be just a huge, HUGE home run for us.

Pressure from below is what the Rangers need in a big way. Helps keep the guys in the line up now honest.

Lindberg is going to be a special player. He just gets it. He accepted his role as a defense-first player because it was asked of him. He had offense in him. I said it at the time of the trade. Everyone thought he would be a 4c. No way. He is solid on his skates, good defensively and works hard offensively. High hockey IQ. Similar to Stepan. Physically he isn't anything special (although he is strong for his size/age), it's what is between the ears.

Absolutely, have not been excited about a Ranger prospect like this in a long time.

And that's mainly because he plays all 3 zones and makes a difference in all 3 zones. Need more of that.

I am totally ready to eat crow about Lindberg. I didn't dislike Lindberg, but I thought that trade was a mistake. I was dead wrong. Very excited to see him, almost as excited as I am about Fast(h).

I think we need to temper expectations a little bit until we actually see him. He's a good prospect, but to say that you haven't been excited about any prospect as much in a long time would be an insult to Lundqvist, Staal, McDonagh, Stepan.

To be fair, those Clark quotes make it sound like they didn't know he had this in him either.

He is the team's best prospect in my opinion with his monster SEL season. I think he will win SEL playoff MVP, but I hope he continues to go under the radar.

It's good that he's going under the radar. No one around the league or the casual Rangers fans talk about him. It's all Kreider or Miller.
