Most impressive about Lindberg's postseason is that while contributing eight points in seven games, he has yet to be on the ice for an ES goal against.

Call me crazy, but I think the kid might just be able to hang in the league.

Too bad his own exemplary performance is keeping him from coming over that much longer. Kinda ironic. :)

I'd think you'd be crazy to say he couldn't play in the NHL.

The kid is doing his job, playing great. It's not his fault the Ranger's are so poorly constructed that they need kids like this to come in and show the regulars how its done. That should be the conversation every time we have to bring guys in to 'save the season'.

@AGrossRecord - Jesper Fast is on the ice for the #NYR wearing No. 12. 5mins

does he stay up or hit CT?

If he can play, I think they give him a try. They'll know within a few shifts if he can hack it or not.

In this case he better ****ing play. No reason to play Powe or Pyatt over him.

Not sure that it matters, but just realized you were talking about Fast. For the record, it's Lindberg that's on loan to Skelleftea. Same answer applies to Fast, however - he was just on loan HV71, which was bounced from the SEL POs already.

The ELC year that's been lost is a sunk cost, no need to even consider it at this point. Just have to look at whether it's better for him and the organization to have him play NHL games or AHL games. If he looks like he belongs in practice, he'll see NHL action. If not, he won't. The ELC year isn't even a consideration.

That said, I agree he should get a look regardless of his practice performance. I do know however that we're typically not a team that gives a guy a spot unless he forces his way in.

EDIT: Saw this in the Whalepack thread:

It sounds like Fast might be coming to Hartford?

Not so Fast: Tortorella says of Swedish prospect Jesper Fast, who has been skating in Hartford: "We just wanted a look at him."

I think some guys, like Pyatt, have forced themselves out of spots. Maybe Powe too (0 points in 20+ games).

The Nate Schmidt signing by Washington helps out Skjei a lot. Now two of University of Minnesota's defensemen aren't returning for next season.

Now there are no excuses. Less depth and he is no longer a freshman. Hope he makes the top-4.

Powe has done nothing wrong in his brief time as a Ranger. He throws his body, blocks shots and has been one of the Rangers better PKers. IMO, Powe should be in the lineup for PK reasons.

But definitely should get a look. Pyatt and Miller have been ineffective for far too many games. Would love to see what Fasth can do in the NHL.

Our PK has been less than stellar. Don't see the logic in keeping him in for his PKing if the PK has been mediocre at best.

So because the PK is mediocre with him in the lineup, you think it makes sense to take him out of the lineup and make it worse? That doesn't make any sense.

Did you notice how the Rangers gave up a PP goal practically every game he was a healthy scratch?

I just feel there are players who have played themselves out of the lineup, while Powe hasn't.

Those regulars used to know how to do it too. They did it last year and no one complained. Management for this team is garbage but these players are independently garbage too this year esp Richards and Gabs (the latter I suspect is not over last years injury physically and mentally nothing else makes sense)

Michael St. Croix

Out of curiosity, where do you guys see St. Croix next year? I think he deserves at least a 2 way deal by the end of this season right? in 72 games played last year, he got 105 points with 45 goals and 60 assists. This year, he had 37 goals for 55 assists. He's 5.11 and 179 pounds which is the only disadvantage he might have but, I see him as being a 3rd or maybe even a 2nd line center in about 2 or 3 years. What about you guys?

Most likely starts the season in the AHL. I believe the Rangers have already signed him to his ELC.

Torts is gonna eat this kid for breakfast.

I have no faith in this kid being a Ranger while Torts is our coach.
