SECOND PERIOD

Whale pass hits Palm's skate and becomes a 2 on none. Talbot gets part of the puck, but it goes in. 2-0. Can't believe we are getting beat up by this terrible team again.

Was about to write that Hrivik is playing well, and he scored just as I thought that. Nice shot from above the circles. Good pass from Thomas. Tessier was standing in front of the net, screening the goalie. It's possible that he deflected it, but they are saying Hrivik with the goal for now. 2-1.

Almost immediately after the goal, Bickel got into a fight. However, it looked more like Greco-Roman wrestling than a hockey fight.

Almost immediately after the fight, the puck is dumped into the left corner and Ferriero tries to center it, but the puck goes in. Terrible goal for the Flyer Phantoms to give up, but I'll take it. 2-2.

They keep changing the box score. A moment ago it said Hrivik had two goals, haha.

Now it's this:

1. ADK Laughton, (1) , 16:28 (SH)
2. ADK Bordson, (10) , 3:19
2. CT Hrivik, (6) (Thomas, Klassen), 6:03
2. CT Ferriero, (8) (Mashinter, Miller), 6:38
2. CT Mashinter, (11) (Vernace, McIlrath), 13:12
2. ADK Akeson, (18) (Bordson), 16:15 (SH)

STARS OF THE GAME:

1. Hrivik: goal, hustle, good game.
2. Mash: all over the ice today with a goal and an assist on the scoresheet
3. Ferriero: skated well today, scored a goal.

Honorable Mention: McIlrath - didn't seem as hesitant as before, good with the puck and without.

Here's how the Whale stand after tonight's action:

When McIlrath puts on another 10 pounds of muscle, he's going to start hurting people in fights and then won't be challenged much.

Think there's any chance Hrivik gets a callup this season? Seems like he could be an upgrade over Powe or Pyatt on the 4th line.

There's no deadline for callups. Do you not remember Kreider making his debut in the playoffs last year? Korpikoski did it a few years earlier too.

I remember them talking about something like it during the latest Habs games, because of Belieau.

Might have been a limit on the guys that can be called up after a certain day

Not sure if there is a deadline, but I would leave him in the AHL. He's just returned, let him play his way through the AHL playoffs (hopefully) like last year. Give him a good and long look in training camp next season.

There's a deadline for the AHL playoffs. Guys had to be sent down by the trade deadline. There's no such deadline for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

I confess at long last to becoming curious about this Hrivik fella. What's the deal with him? Thanks.

I can't wait until McIlrath joins the big club and Staal is back. Then I don't have to watch Stralman and Emminger stink up the garden.

he has a one way deal after next. Biron is a UFA and it looks like they want Talbot to take over back up duties.

The Whale are just giving him the Hank treatment:sarcasm:

Crap news on Fasth. That kid seems to get hurt alot. Im sure he will be 100% for camp............is Lindberg coming soon?

Isn't fasth back in Sweden for WC? What kind of injury does he suffer?

Edit: Saw it was a sprained knee. Is he still in NA?

There used to be a limit of 4 non-emergency call-ups from the AHL after the trade deadline until the AHL team is eliminated from the playoffs. I'd guess there's a similar rule in the new CBA.

Wow, that fight was crazy. I can think of a long list of unpleasant things I'd rather do than get punched by McIlrath. Dude is a monster.

Honestly the only two guys I'd even want to give a chance at a call-up for this year's playoffs would be Hrivik and Lindberg.

One has been consistent in his non-inured AHL time and the other is on fire for a team poised to be SEL champions.

Lindberg doesn't seem likely however.
