Stu's arrival has woken the Whale! :amazed:

Yogan and Thomas with a pair of goals each so far.

Stu with -1 and zero points so far. Still has not found his game i guess

Whatever people may think of Gernander, I don't see how the fact that he didn't play much in the NHL doesn't mean that he can't develop players for the NHL. None of the Calder Cup winners or runners-up for the past few years were coached by anyone with more than a cup of coffee in the NHL, if that. (Jon Cooper, Kurt Kleiendorst, Dallas Eakins, Mike Yeo, Mark French, Greg Gulutzan), and most of those teams have graduated a lot of players.

So the Whale won 6-1
Thomas with 2 goals.
Yogan with 2 goals and an assist.
McI with 2 assists and +2.
Talbot with 30 saves.
3 stars
1. CT - 21 Andrew Yogan
2. CT - 92 Christian Thomas
3. CT - 2 Dylan McIlrath

Edit: Stu was -1, the only - on the team

GOALS

1. Dump and chase. Ferriero slams into the opponent hard behind the net, but the puck is sent towards the blue line. Hit by Mash and another by MCI causes a turnover. MCI with a tremendous pass to Ferriero in front of the net who was tackled, yet still scored.

2. Yogan scored a goal similar to Messier's first goal in Game 6 against the Debbies in 1994. Skated up to the top of the right circle and fired it hard and accurately. Goal scorer's goal.

3. Tessier fires on goal from the right and Thomas gets the rebound by driving hard from the left. He needs to play the same game Kreider plays by driving to the net and shooting when he can. He's not as strong as Kreider, but he's got a better shot. If he plays the north-south game, he'll be a big time scorer.

4. MCI across the blue line to Vernace who makes his pass look like a shot and Yogan deflects it home. Yogan really showing that he has goal scorer's ability by scoring one goal on a hard shot and the other with soft hands. Any way we need it, he can do it.

5. Thomas grabs the puck just above the left circle, moves more to the left so that the defenseman is screening the Bingo goalie, then fires a monstrous wrist shot. He shoots like Gartner used to shoot. Just incredible.

6. Bingo scores on a wrap around after Talbot makes a good save moments before.

7. Palm wins the puck behind the net with his usual hustle, passed it in front where Yogan caught it right in front of the goalie and sent it on the net. He would've had a hat trick, but Segal slightly touched it as it was going in. Still a 3 points game for Yogan.

* Ferriero hit a goal post on a pass from Bourque.

MY THREE STARS

1. Yogan: 3 points, almost had a hat trick.
2. Thomas: when he's on, he's amazing.
3. MCI: Defense, offense, toughness, what's not to like?

Honorable Mention - Talbot: 30 saves on 31 shots against the very good Bingo team that had 6 power plays.

Yogan is my dark horse to make the club next season. He skates well, soft hands, can drop the mits, good shot, can play C in a pinch.
I eventually see him as a productive gritty 3rd line LW.
With the kids coming up, they need somebody to look after them.

I really don't understand how he started the season in the ECHL. Did he sleep with someone's daughter? Did he still someone's money? There's no other reason to banish him. He got better with time, but he's just not an ECHL player. He has the hands, the shot, the speed and the size to be a good player. He isn't a stickhandler, but otherwise, he's a pretty complete player.

I don't think he makes the team in October, but I do think he's an NHL player in the future. I hope he can be a good third liner, but if nothing else, I think he can be an energy player on the 4th line. He needs to improve everything just a little bit (gain a couple more pounds, use his skating better, fire the shot a little faster), but this will come with time if he continues to work hard.

Pyett-Klassen
Vernace-MCI
Parlett-Stewie

Hrivik - Noob - Thomas
Haley - Mash - Segal
Yogan - Jean - Palm
Bourque - Tessier - Ferriero

This would be a very balanced, very strong lineup. From top to bottom, there would be a very strong group with not much of a difference as you go from the first line/pair to the last.

If the team also gets Fasth, it would be phenomenal, as good as any AHL team.

Sather needs to go get some better D for Hartford.
Kids that can be called up in a pinch.
There are few teams out there that have an abundance of D prospects that have been sliding down the depth chart.

Always nice to hear good reports about Dylan. He seems like such a nice kid and a natural leader.

Hulk Yogan is playing well and it seems to be a long period of time. Glad to hear that..

Hulk is #5 among Hartford forwards in scoring per game, even though he spent the whole season playing with 3rd and 4th line teammates. With an expanded role, he could be really effective.

Hrivik - Noob - Thomas
Yogan - Lindberg - Palm
Bourque - St. Croix - Nicholls
Mash - Jean - Ferriero/Segal

The last 3 lines are pretty much interchangeable. They are all good enough to be second lines at the AHL level.

* I'm assuming Fasth makes the NHL and Hrivik will need a little time because he was injured for so long this year. If Hrivik makes it also, then Wilson would replace him.

To anyone who watches the Whale regularly:

Is it worth buying the package to watch them online? I'm really interested in keeping up on Rangers prospects, plus another team to root for could never hurt (or maybe it could given the teams I've pledged my allegiance to).

Any answers whether it be game by game or post season only or finding a way to watch them for free would help.

Will probably buy it for next year so I can watch for the whole season.

Thanks a lot.

I think it's worth it to me, but it depends on your finances because paying so much money to watch a minor league team may not be affordable to someone who's still a student. (Then again, if you live with your parents, you have no real expenses, so what the hell.)

Be aware that the quality is pretty crappy. It's not terrible, but it's hi-def or even standard-def TV that you are used to. But there are no interruptions, so you can enjoy the game.

Quality means nothing to me. The way I see it, minor league team should get minor league quality.

I'd only buy the team pass and I saw the expenses remainder of the season are 100 bucks. How much does the full season cost?

I graduate from Rutgers in May so I'll hopefully have a job the start of next AHL season and will most likely still live with my parents so expenses wouldn't be much of a concern. Thanks.
