You paint a sad, sad picture my friend - watercolors and brushes supplied by the very league we love to watch.
How disheartening.
Dude it's heartbreaking.

How would getting a higher first round pick position be a bad thing? Maybe i misread that section...
Because the pick isn't ours! We were expecting the 2013 1st rounder we gave for Nash to be a late one...but if the season is lost there will be some kind of lottery. We could (although unlikely) end up with the 1st overall pick...just like Pittsburgh did last time around. That would certainly change the value of the Nash trade. Even if it isn't the 1st overall, the odds are greater that it will be higher than what we would have earned by playing a season. Just another reason a lost season hurts us big time.
Uhhhh but that means our SECOND round pick would be high! Face it, our 1st rounder is gone, but if we do place high in the lottery, it will make all of our FOLLOWING picks high!
You know the NHL would rig the lottery to give the Rangers the #1 pick so that they can't have it
If they end up cancelling the season after coming this close to reaching a deal, it will be the ultimate slap in the face to the fans & NHL community - the straw that breaks the camels back. It would be so much easier to deal with a cancelled season if they were never close to reaching a deal and if the sides had been far apart and remained far apart. But to lose the entire season when they've come this close to reaching an acceptable compromise to salvage the season? It would be the ultimate blasphemy. They are playing with fire right now and I don't think they understand how much long term damage they will be doing to not only their own pocketbooks but to the future health & viability of the league as a whole. There are no winners with a cancelled season. Everyone loses. I hope they realize this before it's too late.
they didnt realise this during the last lockout, why would they learn this now... NHL needs new management that cares about the sport, the fans and the players, not just bucks..... if Bettman doesnt know why he gets booed, hopefully he will know by now.. not all of his fault but he has to take some of the blame...
Did he say that?Did anyone hear Ron Maclean on Sirius xm radio 15 min ago say that the deal was done?
Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun
Am told both sides have told mediator they've got a bit of room to move on open issues
Traded to Columbus, no?
Nick Kypreos @RealKyper
Cap fight. #NHL wants 60M #NHLPA wants 65M. Diff is 150M available $'s per season to players in system. Over 10 yrs that's 1.5B #areweclose?
If we give up Jones/Barkov/Lindholm/MacKinnon/Druoin for Rick Nash I'm done with this team
So because youre a paranoid fan youre crying out that youre done with a team that gave up a first round pick for a nhl all star? And over a "potential" prospect that may or may not be Pavel Brendl....yeahhhh ok.

In terms of cap flexibility with the ELC on a young star player as opposed to the 7.8m, it goes beyond a 1for1 swap.
Of course.LOL you do realize that had there been a season, the rangers wouldnt have a top 5 pick let alone a top 20 pick, right? Quit your complaining. It was the right move and a fair deal for both teams.
We've got no cap-space, no 1st rounder, no 60 pt 3rd line center, OUR PETS HEADS ARE FALLING OFF!!!!!1If we give up Jones/Barkov/Lindholm/MacKinnon/Druoin for Rick Nash I'm done with this team
The NHLPA already has the necessary votes to file a disclaimer of interest if the union chooses, according to Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos. Kypreos reports that they haven’t set an “internal date” to make a move as of this time, though.
Time will tell if the measure is merely a threat/tactic or if things will get ugly and tumultuous by going to court.
Of course.
If the Rangers give up a top 5 pick in this deep draft, then the trade is awfully lopsided in favor of the Blue Jackets. Assuming the lottery is in our 'favor' this time.
AgreedBut the rangers didn't give that pick up thinking it'd be a top 5 pick. They gave it up thinking it'd be a 25-30 pick, which even in a deeper draft, could be 2nd round talent. You can't operate your team around a lockout expecting a whole season to be cancelled. They had a chance to significantly improve the offense after being two wins away from a SC visit and they did just that. I don't care if it's a lottery and every team would have a chance to win that number one pick. If there is/was a season the rangers wouldn't have been there and I can live with that.
