I’d say since they received compensation via the 2nd round pick (Caleb Mitchell), they can’t get compensation again this year.

Compensation is compensation.

In the situation that I mentioned earlier with the Petes they got a 1st round draft pick as compensation for declaring Will Cullyle as a defected player in 2018 and drafted Mason McTavish in 2019. There were questions if he was going to play in the OHL and had he not reported it was stated at the time if he was declared a defected player they would not be eligible but would receive a 2nd instead. So under this scenario they were eligible a compensatory pick for both players but one was a 1st, the other would have been a second. London did not declare Will Moore defected in the September window and was not eligible for the 1st so I would think that they would be eligible for the 1st this year.

Where would Maddox Dageneis have gone in the OHL draft if he wanted to play in the O’ rather than Q’

He was a massive head case on his U16 team. He also never led any U16 tourney he played in and doesn't it wonder others why he chose to play in the super weak bottom half OMHA league where stat padding is a premium, then goes to the Q for the draft? This new news is not shocking whatsoever.... QMJHL first overall pick Maddox Dagenais gets traded after refusing to report

To be the first father son duo selected #1 in the Q?
Imagine forcing his way to Quebec City, he is something like 20 other OHL eligible kids that decided their own fate.

So many things wrong in this

"He was a massive head case on his U16 team"

Super subjective and if this is true, it didn't show on the ice.

"He also never led any U16 tourney he played in"

He led the Peterborough tournament in points and goals in 1 less game than Belchetz. Also Finished top 5/10 in a lot of their tournaments.

"doesn't it wonder others why he chose to play in the super weak bottom half OMHA league where stat padding is a premium"

Assuming every player can just play for any team in Ontario is hilarious.

"then goes to the Q for the draft?"

I believe the kid is french, his family is french and his dad played in the Q. Why wouldn't he go to the Q?

He would have gone top 3/5 in the OHL no questions asked, the kid is a stud

- Not super subjective actually, and the Linked article is his endgame that shocks no one at this point.
- He led a 3 team tourney in points in Peterborough, lol, ok.
- Considering he was on his 4th different team in 4 straight years, how is any of that hilarious?
- So if a kid goes to French Immersion highschools in Ontario they are auto set up to play in the Q now? So why not play in Quebec AAA the last 2 seasons then... because reputations can haunt you.
- He would not have gone top 3/5 if no one else left for BCHL or State side. But the Q is far weaker so it came at no shock he bolted again to get those stats!
- Demanding a trade right away is the narrative here... the bread crumb trail was there already for the past 4 years.

You can just say "congrats, kid" instead of trying to tear him down. It costs noting to keep that kind attitude to yourself.

parents continue to be awful and sadly fulfill the narrative that others create about them. Anonymousl post empower it

Does anybody have a read on Jet Kwajah? Is he a lock for the USHL?
i don’t, but I’m not as high on him
As others. ushl is a hard league for 16 year olds.

Many fans are getting tired of seeing players, parents and agents trying to dictate where a player is drafted in the CHL. There are obviously some bad situations and individual issues such as distance from home which are understandable but to demand to play for a certain team is wrong and leads to an unbalance amongst teams in the leagues.

No it isn’t wrong and no it doesn’t cause an imbalance because it doesn’t happen often enough to have that effect. These KIDS aren’t your slaves. If they don’t feel like an organization meets their needs and another does, then more power to them to go to a situation that benefits them.

The first father-son duo to be drafted #1 in the Q, and get to go to Quebec City; way to go kid.

There is a rule if the father played in the league, the son can opt for that draft. Landon Sim is from NS but his dad played for Sarnia so was able to be drafted into the O.

Just had the same scenario this year when Aiden O'Donnell was drafted 14th overall by the Brantford Bulldogs.

Shocked at this point that hawery won't sign. Does he want a trade to a different team in the o? Or does he want to go bchl/ U.S route?

Do we know for sure that Mark and Dale are back next season? These kids and their parents want to know who they are signing with before they commit. Still lots of time, but that might be part of the delay here?

has London had their orientation camp yet?

I just figured before he wasn’t signed earlier because they were one of the few still playing
