Niagara
Each deal is individual. Theoretically, Petes could draft Wasslyn and Niagara draft Valentini. Both defect. Petes trade Wasslyn to Niagara (get the comp pick at #5). Then Niagara trades Valentini to Petes (get the comp pick at #6).
Right, sorry. Essentially what I'm saying.

So Niagara could end up with the player they wanted, plus a free 6th overall pick next year, at potentially no cost at all.

Seems like Fitzgerald had a strong chance to go Top 3 as teams had believed he was safe to report to the OHL before Green Bay swooped in.

FWIW I don't think Fitzgerald was lying when he said he wanted to play in the OHL.

He was going #2 to Sarnia until he pulled out the tender in the last minute. This isn’t new info.

Now Sarnia is going Di Iorio.

Dont rule out Fitzgerald to Kington at 8

Heard rumors Peterborough had been looking at him as well but idk if he was their guy or just someone on their shortlist.

Petes weren’t interested in Fitzgerald. Sarnia management came down to ptbo to talk to Fitzgerald what I heard doesn’t look like it changed his mind

This day was inevitable when Windsor was sanctioned around 15 years ago. You desperately need(ed) a commissioner who’s forward thinking to combat the emergence of rival leagues. Hope this works out for the OHL.

I think the Petes have to take Adam Valentini at this point. he played a year up with Caden Taylor in Taylor’s draft year and no that doesn’t make or break reportability but light as well take the comp pick if he doesn’t come. no idea what the Petes do at this point though however

Although I don’t mind the option of going the defect route, it sure would be great for the Petes to get a top 3 pick to report and support the group of ‘07s behind them. When those ‘07s are 19, that top ‘08 will be 18. I imagine that would add one more big gun down the road to support a big run. You have to think that the Petes would prefer to get a great player, even if it is the 6th best in the draft rather than a comp pick and some draft picks if the goal is to support those ‘07s.

and that’s ultimately the route they will likely take. actually trying to supplement this core with another young star makes the most sense. even if it is fun to think of Valentini wearing the maroon and white lol

Who is to say they aren’t pushing him right now?

Hypothetically if kingston were to draft fitz. Do you think he may come? Or would this just be a move kingston could make to get a comp pick plus some other draft picks if some other team wants the rights?
He might go. Depends how legit you think is tender is.

Is Malholtra to Guelph a sure thing?
Someone before Guelph might take him. As early as Peterborough
