Marlies win gold with the 4:1 win.

As I have been saying for a while - Matthew Schaefer looked terrific. Best defender from this class.
Schaefer definitely top 07 D available. As there are so many good 07 Forwards, not much has been discussed for top 07 D.

Dragusica, Beauchesne, Reid, Singh, Oldenhoff, Cameron, Reilly also impressive. Seen alot of mobile and physical D players as well. Could be some surprises for 2023 OHL draft.

London 07 not making playoffs at Marlies was strange and shocking.

I have also liked what I have seen from Cameron Reid, Tanner Lawson, Casey Bridgewater, Michael Lavigine, Sebastian Del’Elce, Luka Graziano among many others this year.

It’s not as good of a year as last year for defenfers but there is quality here. Schaefer and Dragusica are a tier above the rest in my
opinion.

Agree on that grouping and top 2 with Dragusica and Schaefer. Also like big rugged D Wilson from Central Ontario, Dietsch from STA and Soloman from Waterloo as well as Radley with Petes.

In my opinion, based on what I’ve seen first hand, the first half All-Star Team across Ontario:

Griffin
Hopkins
Hull
Katzin
Martin
McFadden
Moore
Nesbitt
Obrien
Romano
Roobroeck
Weir

Beauchesne
Bridgewater
Cameron
Dietsch
Dragusica
Schaefer

Ivankovic
Nelson

I have not followed the age group before this year, so this is based on this season only.

Schaeffer should only be dman picked in the first round. A few more will be picked as teams may want to jump on a dman if needed.

D Group this year is very weak. Some nice skaters, but may not translate at next level and some nice big dmen but feet or smarts will hold back.

Even the Reid kid I have seen 3-4 times, has not looked like a first rounder and looked ok. He may be a school kid anyway.

The kids still available and left off the list may form a team that can battle this Team Ontario team easy. Very confident of that.

Interesting. Where would you rank him in this draft class?
I think the ‘07 forwards out of Ontario is quite strong - in the QMJHL, he’d easily be a top-5 pick.

In the OHL, I would expect him to go from late first to mid second round.

Interesing case study nonetheless - and it‘ll show how much deeper the talent in Ontario is compared to Quebec/Maritimes.

I agree, it's a weaker class for d-men but there's a handful that will go towards the start of the draft:
- Scheafer (Halton)
- Cameron (Central Ontario)
- Wilson (Central Ontario)
- Reid (Bishop Kearney)
- Dragusica (Marlies)
- Allen (STA)
- Dietsch (STA)
- Beauschene (Nepean)

The 07 draft is definitely forward heavy on top end players. On top of the list above you have some other D available that may be picked with group above.

Singh - YSE
Oldenhoff - YSE
Radley - Petes
MacNeil- Petes
Bridgewater- Halton
Jackson - Barrie
Graziano - JRC
Soloman - Waterloo
Hankai - Bulldogs
Clarke - London
Knight - JRC
Reilly - Nationals
Fagan - Don Mills

Not sold on the Ottawa D as much outside of Beauchesne.

Can somebody explain the GTHL’s U16 playoff format? How many teams make it? Who plays who? How many games per series? What’s the trophy called? Thanks!

Last year they did a round robin with 2 pools and then 1vs2 from each pool and a final.

Prior years it was a tradition playoff with 1vs8, 2vs7, 3vs6, 4vs5 2-out-of-3 series in round 1, round 2 and the final

Don’t hate this List - I was thinking of doing one this weekend if I find the time.
