Is the IIHF scoresheet correct?

Igor Makarov scored back to back double shortanded (3 against 5) goals late in the game against germany?!?

Incredible

Now Russia has one day off and enough time to prepare for the next drubbing (read Canada)! :yo:

I finally got a chance to watch Canada vs Sweden, here's my thoughts on some of the players :

Guillaume Latendresse : He's too strong for these opponents, he runs over them like they're pee-wees. When he has the puck it's impossible to steal it from him, it's pretty impressive. He really impressed me in the first two games but I still see no finish in his game. He makes amazing play but if only he could finish he would be picked number 2 in next draft.

Ryan O'Marra : The complete package even though is skating style is a bit strange (he looks unbalanced all the time). He hits and create good opporunities, he controls the puck well and can score. I heard he has leadership qualities too. He could be an interesting player to look at if he ever slip to our spot at the next draft.

Tom Pyatt : A boiling ball of energy, forechecks like his life is on the line. Small but hits hard. Very Steve Bégin-like.

Niklas Bergfors : He can dangle let me tell you but what else can he do? Yes, he almost went end-to-end a couple of times but it just led to a turnover in the end. Does not use his teammates well enough for me.

Fredrik Pettersson : My favorite player for the swedes, he can dangle as well as Bergfors and he can pass the puck really well. His downside is his size but he semmed solid along the board. Could be a steal at next draft.

Christopher Frombjork : Very versatile. He hits hard, can make a good first pass and can shoot the puck. He can even play forward on the PP. I think his game is suited for the NA game.

Mattias Modig : He was Sweden's third defenseman, he could pass the puck 3/4 of the ice and right on the tape. Pretty intresting feat.

Yeah, I'm not sure what the German goalie was doing on the first one. He was almost in the corner with the puck and literally passed it right out to Makarov who was streaking into the slot, with an empty net, and no goalie within 10 miles.

The 2nd one was just a nice breakaway.

Makarov is very good, and I don't even think he's eligible for the draft until 2006. I didn't like the fact that he acted like he got the game 7 overtime winner when it was an 11-3 game, though.

Anikeenko is looking much better, I think, and my favorite Buravchikov keeps doing everything right. At this point (and I'm only basing this on the three games I've seen), I'd take both of them before Zubarev (who's the captain, by the way).

Even though they don't have any Ovechkins, Malkins, or Radulovs, this Russian team is oozing skill. Zubov, Sopin, Krysanov, Makarov, Buravchikov, Kucheryavenko, Trukhno, Bumagin... they're fun to watch.

I'm very happy to hear that from someone who has seen them play. Seems like Russia will have very strog teams in the next two years for the U20 WJC. Many of 86' born players are eligible for next year and this team will be great in two years as well.

I only got to see parts of Canada's games(when I was at the gym)so how about
some reports on the defense. Is Gragnani playing much.does anyone no what number he is ?How is Trukhno doing with Russia?

Canada layin a butt whoopin on Denmark, 6-0 right now. Canada needed a game like this to get going. Make that 7-0 as I type :joker:

Yep,they are playing well. The Danes are'nt a powerhouse of course but you start building momentum with what you got in front of you.Macguire is searching for things to comment on....just about ten minutes ago he commented that the Canadian players have to learn 10 Czech words every day and then he says..."they are loving taking Czech lessons,i wonder why? Have you seen their teacher?........she's fantastic!!" I can only imagine.

8-0 early in the second. They're finally skating and looking like a team.

8-0 now on a beauty play all set up by great physical checking from Canada.Nice goal.

Did Mike Keenan just say they like Ryan Parent? I wasn't paying attention to the interview...anyone hear what he said?

13-1 at the midwaypoint of the third. Yeah, Keenan said they like Parent's leadership.

Not much of a game to watch for sure.We play Russia tommorow i think so this all changes come tommorow morning. That should be a nice tilt.
