Nice, thx a bunch!

Did you see any good swedish hits as well? (from Dahlberg or Hjalmarsson perhaps??)
Or someone in the swedish team who got a lot of ice time etc???

I'm not even a big fan of Colton Yellow Horn, he is never going to have a NHL career, but should be a solid WHLer for the next three years.

My question is....your team is struggling to generate offense and you have a guy on the bench who scored 35 goals in the WHL this year...yet he only plays 4-5 minutes.

I know everyone is a top 1-3 round draft prospect,,,,but if you want to win the tourney you need to score goals and Yellow Horn always finds a way to generate offense...I don't know how he does it, but he does.

I thought he should have gotten a lot of icetime in the 3rd period...oh well.

Like I said, not a huge fan, but just doens't make sense to have a 35 goal, 80 point man sitting on the bench for pretty much the entire game.

PS- Dan Bertram is a gaurenteed 1st round pick!

He looked fine. Maguire didn't like his face off ability and Camp took him off the ice when his line was in SWE zone for some late 3rd period face offs.

Canada lost? Are you guys serious?

If O'Marra continues like that his stock will raise for sure.

Latendresse had another good game. I guess his stock will rise if he keeps on playing good. Price played good but I thought he would play better then that.

A few thoughts/questions...

I'm curious as to why Czech '88 David Kveton receives very little hype. I had used to think it was probably because he was very small but according to the IIHF site he is 6'2" (!?!?). He's been a great scorer at the junior level and has played in the Czech Elite league as well. He lead the Czech U18 team in scoring at the 5-Nations tournament a few months back and now he's right up there again here. He's only a month older than Frolik yet Frolik's hype is way stronger. Anyone have any insight?

I'd also point out that the player who is leading the Danish team in scoring and has been named their top player in the match versus Russia, Mikkel Bodker, is only a few weeks away from being a '90 birthdate. That's pretty amazing.

Mikkel has signed a contract with the swedish top team, Frolunda J20.

Bergfors didn't stand out. he had one nice rush up the neutral zone that showed some speed. Any time he had the puck in CAn zone he would head for the net and try to shoot. Maguire was on him a bit saying he likes to shoot too much instead of passing to a teammate and he stated he wouldn't slect him in the 1st round of the draft. (early 2nd).

hehe a Swede shooting the puck so much that it might hurt his chances in the draft?... :) Never heard that one before! All it takes is one team who have seen Bergfors on the "right nights" and he will be gone in the 1st round... His overall game is good enough to make him a atleast early 2nd round but when his game is on he is good enough to go allot higher.

I saw Kveton many times, the last time yesterday against Slovakia. He is great prospect but he is 5-11 at best, more probably 5-10. Still he has potential to be first rounder.
BTW, Mikkel Bodker looked pretty well yesterday.

Yeah, I figured that had to be wrong. While I have your attention, I'll ask you to confirm the size of guys like Frolik and Michael Repik. Also, how does Repik compare to the other two. Thanks.

And now read this : http://www.hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=122243

Now you can see how stupid that thread was!

:biglaugh:

Now we can see how stupid YOU are. Do you realize that almost ALL Canada's main assets aren't in the tournament? Add Crosby, Brule, Ryan, Bourret, etc to this team.

Every other country as their best team available, Canada has like their #2 line-up.

PS. I know I'm gotta get warned, but you're just too much.

For once I agree with you

Ryan, Bourret

Ryan's American and Bourret is too old.

Wilka was being obnoxious but it does go to show that you can't always jump to conclusions just because of previous tournament results. So often people assume the outcome of one tournament should mean certain things are set in stone, especially when it comes to a specific age group. That just isn't the case.

The Russia-Denmark game yesterday was okay. Pierre McGuire invited me to sit with him during the 2nd period (awesome, awesome guy, by the way).

Everyone was pulling for Denmark, and they came close, but Russia got away with a close one. Vitaly Anikeenko looked much better. He has a helluva shot. McGuire liked a few of the Russians. He seemed to like Krysanov the best. He's got size, skill, and speed, so why not?

Little Sebastian Dahm was excellent. I'm sure his size won't exactly help his chances of getting drafted, but he sure played like he had something to prove.

Overall, I was impressed with Denmark. They didn't back down from the Russians at all, and it should be a good game tomorrow when they play Canada.

I don´t really care that it was a brutal game, we won for once against CANADA. Im so happy. :handclap:

Sweden played a tough defensive game? Anything else?? Anyone in particular who stood out?
I tend to get tunnel vision on the players on the team I'm cheering for when I watch a game on TV, so I focused on the Canadians as individuals, and Sweden was just the big amorphous "enemy". But that said, From-Bjork was a rock for the D, I think. He and Hellstrom kind of stood out to my mind, maybe partly just because of the whole powerplay formation thing. Ribbenstrand (? I might be murdering that spelling or forgetting) too... generally speaking Sweden seemed to play with a fair bit of moxie, and didn't back down at all, even though I don't think their defense could be called big as a group. They deserve credit, and I'm sure a few of them who maybe weren't very high on the scouting radar at least earned themselves a closer scrutiny for the rest of the tourney. (From-Bjork especially).

Ah great. Thx a lot! Yea I really like From-Björk. One of my big favourites in the squad. Good size and good physically.

Yea, i think this team is a little bit more moxie than what we are used to from a swedish team. Ive thought about that during the season, that most players on this team are pretty tough(maybe not in NA-standards).

That was a new word for me, so I looked it up:

moxie
1. The ability to face difficulty with spirit and courage.
2. Aggressive energy; initiative: “His prose has moxie, though it rushes and stumbles from a pent-up surge†(Patricia Hampl).
3. Skill; know-how.

Sounds good to me! Nice to hear that both Ribbenstrand and From-Björk are doing well.

I saw the game a little bit.Latendresse looked good offensively and defensively. He created a lot of scoring chances with O'Marra , he assisted on the O'Marra goal.He even almost killed a player by bodychecking him.Price LOOKED WEEEAAKKK on the second goal!!! He didn't even moved. The swedish player surprised him between the legs.

I'm disapointed , I thought Canada would do better.

BTW , it's 7-0 Russia vs Germany after ONE PERIOD!!! Zubov is dominating this game , he has 1 goal 2 assists so far.

It's 8-0 now , Vyacheslav Buravchikov scored a goal.Him and Zubov are having a terrific game and tournament.9-0 now , Zubov scored another goal!

Kessel (assisted by Stoa and Mueller) just scored for Usa , it's 3-1 Usa vs Switzerland.

Damn, how can you let in two goals while playing 5-on-3? :amazed:
4-12, at least they won the third period ;)
I wonder how Germany gets all these shots on goal, I wouldn't have expected them to outshoot Canada and Russia.

It's always the same, Germany can win against the smaller teams like Denmark, but these smaller teams always fare better against the top nations (see Denmark's 1-2 against Russia).
