OT: 20 Years Later, Losing Whalers Still Heartbreaking

This was the issue with the existence of the Whalers for folks living in the Springfield area: starting in the late 80's (or possibly earlier) when the B's played in Hartford the TV broadcast would be blacked out. Yes I know - just go to the game...

However it got much worse for B's fans in Western MA during the last couple of years of Whaler existence: not only would games from Hartford be blacked out, but it was somehow ruled that either FCC or NHL rules permitted the Whalers to blackout Bruins games in Boston (not against the Whalers) if they were playing on the same DAY - not even time, but day - as the Whalers were playing at home. Most often this resulted in Saturday afternoon B's home games being blacked out - on NESN no less - if the Whalers were playing at home that evening.

My understanding was that these blackouts were at the behest of the Whalers.

So do I want them back...? Pass.

Brass Bonanza is still crap, sounds like the theme to a C-level 70's era Hanna Barbara cartoon.

I've heard it's been played at Fenway on occasion, where I expect such pandering but it better never be played at TD Garden.

Ron Poster does play it on the Organ occasionally. He played it one time while we were playing Carolina...the Hurricanes proceeded to score right off the ensuing faceoff... That royally pissed me off.
