There's no appeal for Colorado. And, in spite of your victim hood, you act like Colorado exists to trade Montreal a 1st.

You might want to stop imagining you're talking to a group of homogenous people.

I haven't asked for anything from Colorado, I'm making a single, simple point: the retention you suggest is worth more than the return.

This makes your proposal among the worst on here, far worse than the OP, BTW.

Any trade that sends Dvorak to the Avs would require a sweetener going to the Avs.

Sakic would never acquire a negative value contract like his. He wouldn’t do it with a sweetener. So no chance whatsoever he’d include a valuable asset like Girard.

I can’t find a player on the Habs the Avs would want that Montreal wants to deal.

Habs aren’t selling anything interesting this season.

Hoffman, Drouin, Anderson, Dvorak, Savard, Dadanov, Armia, Byron, etc. zero interest.

The problem is mismatched term. The Avs won’t want the term on Dvorak’s bad contract.

The Avs will escape the EJ and JTC contracts this offseason when they expire.

But the Habs have to live with this bad Dvorak overpay for a few more seasons.
