Just the Flyers "being physical" per their usual game plan... nothing to see here.

I am more pissed off about the Simmonds play of cross checking Marty then before anyone even touches him he shakes off his glove and starts throwing. That should be the play under review for discipline imo. I thought there was a rule regarding dropping the gloves to instigate a fight without a willing participant beforehand.

And the sad part is that he was throwing bombs at.... Josefson, the one guy who'll cause the least amount of trouble out of everyone who was actually on the ice at the time.

I don't know if this was seen on TV, but towards the end of the game, after Giroux's unsportsmanlike and selfish slash, there was a sequence where Josefson was on the ice and Giroux threw a punch at him for no reason, then cross checks him and holds him down on the ice for a good three seconds.

I couldn't help but get a chuckle seeing Gio introduced right after Zubrus. You didn't have to have 20/20 vision to see the difference there

He definitely does a lot more of that than people seem to notice. Called him out (for becoming Crosby`s ginger bro) a couple of times, got eaten alive by the Flyers fans.

He's always been a whiny little ***** whenever I've watched the Flyers. If he doesn't score or the Flyers are losing big, he gets dirty and *****es about everything. I used to like him, but there's a difference between being emotional and being a female dog, he falls under the latter.

If you ever go to a Devils/Flyers game, just take special note of Giroux when he's out there. The bench minor the Flyers got, Kovalchuk was skating by and I saw Giroux say something in his direction and I saw Kovalchuk turn around, then a referee to skated up there to make sure nothing happened, Kovalchuk continued by the Flyers bench and then you saw him look at the bench, shake his head and continue skating. I saw what happened and then the Devils line-up on a PP, and I was like they called something on that? Someone on the Flyers bench must've said something to Kovalchuk.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but as things went down, I didn't have a problem with the Simmonds episode. There was no intent to injury whatsoever, I mean Marty sold it quite a bit. Then Yayo shows that he is growing into this league by jumping on Simmonds, who is like twice his size. Just after a few seconds, Carter comes over and does what he should, taking Yayo's spot. The team showed character and toughness, and got 4 (?) minutes of PP out of it. Simmonds tried to do something to get Marty out of "the zone" and ignite his team, Devils showed that it won't work. It's hockey, I love it. I have no problems with it as opposed to dirty hits.

Yeah I feel the same way. He used to be a likeable guy, but now he's fallen into that mentality. When things aren't going their way they start playing dirty, and taking cheap shots. Just gooning it up really.

I don't remember exactly when it happened, was it like mid third? Could have been an intent to get Marty off because he was so superb, but it could also be Simmonds just being a ******. I don't know

This happens all the time, except today, the NBC logo was on the top and this was new. Day after the Directv blackout? Coincidence?

Even if it is, NBC owning philly is a unbeleivable conflict of interest.

And hasn't all of philly's games been on NBC this year? Wasn't their broadcast team as biased as anything u have ever seen in last years playoffs?

Makes the possibility of the blackout as a means to steal directv customers in NJ a pretty reasonable explanation.

Strange story, I saw a guy show up at a bar I was at wearing his Zach Jersey as he was getting out of his car. I commented I knew where he just came from, but he needed to burn that Jersey when I saw it was 9. He proceeded to yell "3 cups, 3 cups" I think he thought I was a Rags fan hahaha

Honestly I know how expensive they are, but I could never wear his jersey anymore. Much rather just wear one of my Devils T-shirts or something until a tailor could fix that. Glad I decided to invest in #30, can never go wrong.

To be fair, that last penalty was really weak.

The first one was too. Hartnell sold it with an acting job throwing his head back. Zid's stick didn't touch him.

Last season, Kovy was on the ice for more Devils shorthanded goals than he was for PP goals against.

Which is an incredible statistic. With that penalty shot goal last night, he's already a plus player for goal differential again this season.

something that is getting overlooked is how good kovys defense was last night. Several times last night i caught myself saying "nice backcheck" or something and seeing #17 making the play. The guy has come so far and is really becoming a complete player. Hes not elite on D by any means, but im at the point where i totally trust him in the defensive zone.

Ya, it's getting to the point where I'm not really worried about him defensively. I liked his work on the breakout too. Responsible with the puck, and he came low to help the defencemen when they were hemmed in by the forechecking Flyers. That's exactly what he should be doing, and it's great to see.
