something that is getting overlooked is how good kovys defense was last night. Several times last night i caught myself saying "nice backcheck" or something and seeing #17 making the play. The guy has come so far and is really becoming a complete player. Hes not elite on D by any means, but im at the point where i totally trust him in the defensive zone.

also, i think josefson is our best penalty killer at the moment. Zajac and zubrus are both great at it, but josefson was amazing last night.

Per TG, DeBoer said today:

“The forecheck wasn’t where we want it to be last night,†DeBoer said. “I thought against the Islanders we did a better job. We didn’t get in and disrupt enough of Philly’s breakout. We didn’t spent enough time in their end, so that’s something we definitely have to do a better job at.â€

Saugus made the same observation last night. Glad the Devils are 2-0 with room for improvement.

The ref is ten feet away, how the hell does he not call a charge?

Just the Flyers "being physical" per their usual game plan... nothing to see here.

I am more pissed off about the Simmonds play of cross checking Marty then before anyone even touches him he shakes off his glove and starts throwing. That should be the play under review for discipline imo. I thought there was a rule regarding dropping the gloves to instigate a fight without a willing participant beforehand.

Yeah simmonds just started wailing on Josefson for no reason it seemed, and thats why Carter and Bernier both jumped in. I love those guys. Our team is not gettin ****ed with this year thats forsure. I'm glad we have a nice balance of skill and toughness that we haven't found in our bottom lines in a while. Nice to see some consistency there.

I really thought Elias looked frustrated last night. He'll definitely get better but did look pretty mad at himself. As for Josefson, he looks bigger, faster and already is fine defensive player, but will he ever add a decent amount of offense to his game?

Joe and Evan were talking some Devils today, Evan went off on a Rag's fan who was hating on our cheerleaders(more or less a shot at attendance).

But apparently the Directv blackout was a mistake of sorts. Evan said no one had an explanation, but it was a mistake.

After a sluggish and lucky first, we played solid for the other 40 minutes. Marty stood on his head during the first and really gave the guys confidence. I know it's only been two games, but he really seems to be on his game. It's refreshing considering he usually starts seasons off poorly.

On a personal note, I got Henrique to sign the puck they gave away. Me and my buddy were waking out and we just saw him in his SUV signing autographs. What a night!

I've been saying this about Josefson the whole AHL season already. That he should be on the first PK unit cause he's probably one of our better defensive forwards. He was always a threat, and scored shorthanded a couple of times too. And I agree about Kovy also.

This is the stuff I like to read and one of the many reasons I like Pete. Take the win, but understands work needs to be done.

Also love the Marty gifs, I had forgotten about the amazing scorpion save.

This is the best video I could find on YT from last nights intro (begins at 30 seconds in), minus the Sandy tribute video
