it looks the team is scoring at the same rate the sens are, and the senators don't have karlsson or spezza, and we don't have zubrus or carter.

zubrus come back please.

Because everytime he get's beat, the puck is behind Hedberg. He's the last guy to always get beat right after a goal, wich probably doesn't tell the entire story as to why we let in a goal but when the common dominator is #28, you have to start wondering why he's always the last guy in the picture, brushing his head backwards after a goal.

But just because he's the last to get beat doesn't mean he's the one to blame.

The PK is crap. I expect Barr to work some magic, and make this a top 20 PK again, and not a bottom 5 which is probably where it stands now after this game.

All in all I'm not sure if I blame the PK. The team stopped playing long before Ovechkin's third goal.

Zubrus wasn't playing awesome before he went down. Not saying it doesn't mess up our lines and I do not want him in this lineup. But no Zubrus or Carter is definitely a big change. Apparently injuries are only an excuse for other teams, though.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but

It seems like what we're watching is a lackluster effort against lower teams. We seem to be taking it easy on them, while we bring it against the top teams always. Effort needs to be there every game.

7 points up on 9th place with two more games played. That cushion is quickly shrinking.

Hoping we can come out strong tomorrow and take the next two vs. the Jets. Not a team we should lose to either but so far this season, we've been losing to bad teams and beating good teams..

A lot of people just look at the standings and think we are being crazy. If this slump continues it wont take long for us to be on the outside looking in. We drop back to 4th after this loss and Boston is only 2 points behind with 4 games in hand.

The Devils have been like this for years.

That's exactly the bottom line. We play for almost 60 minutes against the good teams. That's why we beat the Rangers, and Penguins, and Flyers (Who are crap this season, but forget that) and lose to the basement dwellers. Like 5 goals against from the Isles, and Caps? GTFO!

Sometimes we lose against the good teams like when we lost 5-1 against Pittsburgh. The team actually played for 40 minutes that day. The team does not put in 60 minute efforts or even 40 against the basement sitters of the league.

The Caps were absolutely not a bad team today. I'd say they were way better than for example the Rangers on almost any day.

It's not about being crazy. It's about putting too much stock in "if."

This team is not satisfied or at their peak. They are slumping, and we should be thankful that so far that have had room to slump. We could be in a much worse position. We could be in a better position. We are playing tomorrow and we will be fine if we start winning games. ;)

this doesn't excuse the fact that

1. the scoring has completely dried up

2. pk is abysmal

3. team has only won 2x in 6 games

It's called a slump. It's frustrating and it sucks but it isn't worth getting into a frothing panic over. All the things listed is perfectly capable of getting going again. It just needs to happen hopefully the switch starts to shift tomorrow. Win tomorrow and we won two out of our last 3 and spilt a back to back. Just not worth going nuts over.

Pete wanted none of the Ovi talk.

Dollars to donuts Fayne (and not Volchenkov) takes the brunt of punishment for this game and is sat out again tomorrow, maybe for Harrold. They were both a -2 and played sub-15 minutes. The staff's already done its best to ruin Fayne, for whatever reason.

im not so sure moose is the backup we think we had, or like last season. Is moose going to play the second game against the jets?

- i think i our backup is weak
- scoring if it wasnt of kovi we would be in more trouble then you see now
- there goes the fayne statistic

look if you dont give ovechkin some p*ssy for a while i think his balls got a little bigger today. Just like football, any given Sunday or game you can loose, hopefully thats it.

not the trend of winning only 2 in the last 6 is going to continue.

All i care about:

- staying healthy
- establish consistent defense and offense
- improve on faceoffs
- make the playoffs
- beat the rangers any and all times

The Devils were an absolutely awful team too. Could you even say for a minute they tried killing those last two penalties?

They are gassed physically because of the lack of puck possession and always on the defensive working to clear our zone.

It's not a winning formula.

We are easy to play against the last 6 games.
