a lot of babies post on this board. Its sickening.

This team could go 81-0-1 and disappoint some of you.

With the way special teams has gone over the last month, they'd be 0-81-1 if games were only played on special teams. Both areas of the special teams are a legit concern, especially the joke of a PK which hasn't been right since last April.

Best performances IMO were Kovy, Loktionov, Gionta, Larsson, and Greene. Henrique has been playing very well defensively but needs to start scoring. He hasn't been bad passing but he hasn't put one in the net in a while.

henrique's SOG total is not good

zajac- no clue what's happening with him. he's not clicking with kovalchuk.

Zajac's never clicked with Kovy offensively. Even two years ago, most of their success was just Zajac doing the dirty work and Palmeri getting out of the way while Kovy tore it up in the second half with a bunch of solo performances.

This team can't play a 60 minute game against bottom dwellers. I think it's a legitimate gripe. If we play 50 or 60 minutes we might have only lost by one goal today or did even better. The PK has been abysmal. That's 12 PPG against in 9 games. I think 4 of the last 5 we've given up at least 2 per game too.

anyone who thinks the capitals are as bad as their record is being naive.

If you want to judge this team on one game, what about the time we beat pittsburgh, NYR, or when we took boston to a shootout on their ice?

People often forget theres another team playing the game. The capitals were good today. We werent bad. The PK fell apart and sure its a cause for concern right now, but the level of panic is ridiculous.

I dont know why i continue to come here with reason and logic after losses. Its truly a lost cause.

Have a good night devils board.

The problem is that this team set the bar too high. If they had just obeyed and fallen to last place at the beginning of the season like everyone expected, we would be fine right now. Then the possibility of being a bubble team would excite us instead of scare us.

Disobeying SOBs.

Yeah this team has overachieved in points plus they had a real good schedule to start the season.

Matteau needs to go to the AHL now. He's disrupting the chemistry of the third line and has been pretty bad passing the puck. I don't see why we didn't send him down after 5 games, even early he was still making the same mistakes, except he was getting more shots on goal.

Who's judging this team on one game? Listen, some of the posts here are ridiculous in terms of calling this team absolute garbage but let's not pretend this is the only clunker we've put up this past week...

Not being worried about this team is as foolish as calling it garbage, IMO.

Yeah it's not DEFCON 1 yet...it will be DEFCON 2 or something thereabouts if they lose tomorrow though. You can't keep dropping games to non-playoff teams and not expect to pay the piper sooner or later.

And it is cumulative. They played bad for 45 minutes on Monday, after playing bad the last 40 minutes on Saturday. They were good even-strength Thursday, somehow played even on ST's because of one SH goal/one 5-on-3 canceling out two PP goals against, and terrible today.

Offensively they need to get some guys going, specifically Zajac. Special teams needs to pick it up. And this merry-go-round on D isn't helping.

last season i was at almost every 1pm/3pm game at pru center.

the devils lost every 1pm game, and won all the 3pm games.

this year it's the same.

they have lost every game starting at 1pm or earlier, expect that game against the pens a few weeks ago.

So wait, we can only complain about things when the team is out of the playoffs because that is dumb.

And cherry picking good games throughout the course of a season to justify losses might be the dumbest things ever. Literally every team in the league could do that.

Fact is that the Devils are right in the mix of things for the playoffs right now and have good point totals but are playing poorly in general as of late. If that ruffles your feathers that bad then I dunno what to tell you on a hockey board. Devils are having problem putting in goals but were fine for the most part on Thursday, not sure I can say the same about today.

Hopefully the jets start the backup tomorrow. They started pavelec today I've seen us make frickin Montoya look like a VeZina winner before so I won't get my hopes too high

I suggest some take off the blindfolds.
5 out of a possible 12 is alarming and aside from the scores themselves the team looks BAD in all areas.

Time to snap out of it tomorrow in a must win

People here think this is a contender team, it was a fluke, imo just a showoff of great coaching last year, it aint gonna happen again. not within next 5 yrs.

Even if they did send him down, he'd be right back up after Zubrus and Carter got injured. There was no avoiding him being in the lineup.

Is this like a "Reverse Jinx" or something?

Or are you just being pessimistic for the sake of being pessimistic?

Im just being myself, as always, but the **** ive seen by this team in the past couple of weeks (apart from Flyers comeback), go home and practice on a dummy, seriously. This team is so lost out there its not even funny. It could be worse, but our position in the standings is deceiving. Either we are slumping really hard or we were peaking astonishinly earlier - either way, the way the team is playing is not good in any perspective. You do not get hande 1-5 losses by CAPS and ISLES within 7 days. Those are the teams that everyone else beats.

Edit: "go home and practice on a dummy, seriously. This team is so lost out there its not even funny. " Im bustin' out the rhymes like Busta himself

I think 10-4-4 is a perfectly fine way to start the season, especially with the compressed schedule and the inconsistency of every team in this league not named the Blackhawks. It would be nice for Lamoriello to get the eight defenseman situation worked out, but it's going to happen soon and we may end up with a top six forward before the regular season comes to an end - which will only help the offense tremendously.

Regardless of all that, I don't think what this team achieved in the playoffs last year was a fluke. I don't think what this team did at the beginning of the season was a fluke either. This is a good group, they can potentially go deep in the playoffs again, but the regular season is filled with momentum swings, highs and lows. Right now they're on a low, but it only takes one convincing win to set the ship straight.

Its extremely tough to beat the same exact team in their barn twice in a row. Look, the Devils have some problems (Zajac, Henrique, the PK, Tallinder, 8 D-men, etc...), but teams go through adversity during the grind of the regular season. Despite all of the problems the group is facing, they're still tied for number 1 in the division. It is absolutely NOT the time to hit the panic button - be patient, things can change as quickly as next game. This is going to be a very bipolar season, its the nature of a 48 game campaign.

Devils always lose to teams they should beat. Then they come back and beat teams everyone thinks they are supposed to lose to.

Been that way for years i feel like. Lose to the lower end of the league beat up the top 8-10 teams.
