Got to be weird for Rolston tonight. Cannot really implement a new system in a day, let alone try to tweak much. I'm guessing he is relying on the assistants such as Patrick for this one. With a shortened season it will be really hard for Rolston to change much considering they never really get much time off in between games.

Ron Rolston said on video he sees a lot of shortcuts and rest within shifts! #Sabres

In 1st press conference as head coach of Buffalo Sabres, Ron Rolston basically called the players lazy. Said they take "a lot of shortcuts."

This is his message. Always has been in Rochester. They may lose, make mistakes, but hell if they're not going to work hard.

He's being given a chance to get the gig full time, but you're right. This is a thank you to him for his service, he's not going to realistically get the gig after the season anyway because of what you said.

The kid is simply not good enough to contribute in the NHL.

Exactly, which is why he should be sent down. I think Darcy is just unwilling to admit they made a mistake, so he'd rather try to save face instead of thinking about Grig's future. He knows he's next..

@reporterchris: The #sabres will scratch 18-year-old centre Mikhail Grigorenko tonight in Toronto. Fourth time this season he's sat out.

someone had to :D

I do really wish they'd stop the charade that this is a playoff team and just use this season to get the younger guys playing time.

The younger guys (Hodgson, Ennis, Foligno) have gotten playing time. It's part of the reason we are where we are. Grigs is the only exception.

I was thinking more nuclear like McNabb and more of the ROC guys who could be in the mix for next year like Pysyk.

You might see that after the trade deadline.

As long as they don't do something boneheaded like trade for Iginla or other rentals.

Another reason why it was smart to get rid of Ruff. If Ruff couldn't see these shortcuts, or even if he did and didn't correct them, then it was time for him to go. Now If these players still play with the same energy and make the same shortcuts without having them corrected, then they need to go.

The problem with the Sabres is not just one position or with one particular area, it all needs to be looked at by Ted and a brand new set of eyes.

Whatever happens, just don't be boring anymore please. I want to enjoy watching again, and winning doesn't need to be critical in that.

Ugh, just send the kid back down. If you're not going to give him any chance to contribute in the NHL, there's no point in him being here. Give him back to Roy and let him try to lead his team to a Memorial Cup.

Oh ok. I thought you meant the current roster.

Will TJ Brennan still be on the number one PP unit tonight? I'm considering using him in a daily fantasy league but only if he's going to see that PP time. Can you tell me a little bit about his game? I'm aware that he has a big shot but that is about all i know.

Hard telling if he will be. I'm sure he's going to get some decent ice time, probably some pp tgime but nothing is confirmed if he will be on PP1 PP2 or neither.

He's been rough on the PP, I would NOT play him. His shot accuracy has been a joke. No points yet this year either.

yeah, i used him last game due to injuries hoping for some luck, he at least put up +1 4sog 1hit 3blocks, might use him again tonite, I'm just assuming he'll get some PP time again due to Rolstons familiarity with him
