Again, this was to add context to the conversation without directly engaging anyone or throwing more subjective garbage onto the pile. If the lists of names of voters was still available in that thread, I can assure you that it would predictably highlight hypocrisy of the usual shit talkers, that's a consistent theme here. I'm sure you could get something interesting enough from the thread posts if you're interested enough in looking.

For the life of me, I can’t understand what you’re getting at. “Hypocrisy of usual shit talkers” just sounds like YOU have a personal bone to pick, and it has nothing to do with evaluating Travis Sanheim or any other prospect. If that’s the case, I’m not interested in that.

I get that you're missing it because you responded in the first place, and there's nothing to get into so it's no sweat.

If you don't have some truly embarrassing opinions with hindsight, it just means you're too stupid to look for and/or find them.

I have my NFL draft boards going back to 2001. I assure you I know I'm an idiot.
I mean, you hated on my WIP sponsored Bijan pick, and that's fine. Where we the Eagles be without Barkley? I mean, really?

In all seriousness, I loved Phil Myers. Still could potentially pass Sanheim @FLYguy3911

I've overrated so many people. Funny thing though? Never thought Scott Laughton was anything other than Scott
Laughton

Read that #1 prospect poll in 2016. I definitely died on a hill in that one.

I couldn't resist trolling Flyguy for his comments on Morin and Hagg, though he was right on point with Sanheim, including the upside b/c he might fill out that skinny frame.
I have much worse opinions out there. I said Barzal wouldn't be a 1C. This doesn't hurt me.

I was definitely too high on Morin (not in that post but in general). His highs were extremely high and I overvalued those over his whole body of work. I think if anyone watched him extensively before he broke his jaw in his D+2 I don't think it was as crazy to value him highly. He was a freakish athlete with improving puck skills, but I probably put too much faith in blind development in areas that are difficult to improve. He missed loads of dev time in Junior and later in his ELC. It was a death sentence for a player of his skillset.

And that one blurb about Hagg 11 months after he was drafted was, believe it or not, a pessimistic take at the time. Hagg was a big scorer in Junior and even played on the PP in the WJCs in his draft year. It was also 10+ years ago. In that era, he did have a decent skill level. It never improved and possibly got worse when he came to NA (wonder why!). He also bulked up too and I don't think his stiffness helped matters.

This applies to Morin also - The baseline skill level for defensemen went up exponentially shortly after this time period (hell Sanheim has never been a PP regular in his career and he was a one man offense in the WHL). Andrew MacDonald was getting PP time in 2014. Fringe prospects turned into non-prospects pretty quickly. I promise you won't find many, if any, positive Hagg posts from his D+2 onward from me. And I was on an island for much of that time.

2014 is the first year I really started to watch prospects regularly. I'd like to think I've worked out some of the kinks and developed better opinions in part because of bad opinions the past.

Ryan Leaf > Peyton Manning (the GOAT)

I'll never have a worse take. It's at least comforting to know you've bottomed out.

Absolutely loved Wyatt Kalynuk as a late guy. I don't feel bad about that one at all. There were things to work with there.

That was exactly when I started listening because you weren't letting it go.

Ooo this is a tricky one. I was on both sides of the Myers coin. I got accused of hyping him up too much shortly after he signed as an UDFA- It was truly a breath taking watch, but then people did get too carried away the next year and I wasn't all the way there.

Laughton was another guy I was in the middle of for most of his time as a prospect. Didn't hate the pick (wasn't a Maatta guy). People got carried away with the offensive projections the next year in part to the prospect pool being shit. I couldn't get there. Thought he got a raw deal spending pretty much all of the last year of his ELC in LHV. He was clearly too good for that level. And 12 years later he's still here.

We all might have wasted our time by not saying TK though. Forward > Defensemen if all else is equal is something I've learned.

Hagg remains a ridiculous red flag for development processes and they have changed nothing about anything since then.
