Blowing late leads often and winning the coin flip known as a shootout is not quality hockey. This team is far worse than the record. It’s an illusion.

I’d rather have young kids playing well, learning the NHL game, and leading the occasional win. Lucky shootout wins is not building a winning culture. Playing a solid game and holding onto leads builds a winning culture. This is how you never pick in the top 3 and win only 1 Cup since 1940.

I don't play. I have never played. But I'm confident saying no one has ever played to win occasionally. And none of them are playing with Jack Hughes on their minds.

Second worst team in the league in terms of ROWs. That will catch up eventually. We’re that bad. We are. Don’t mistake it for something it isn’t.

If it happens, it happens. It's not like the other team isn't trying to win these shootouts--or in overtime.

The Rangers coming out the lockout year were expected to be the worst team in the league. We had Jagr and that was Lundqvist's rookie season and Kevin Weekes was expected to be our No. 1 that year. That Rangers team used those low expectations as motivation all year long and made the playoffs. We got walloped by the Devils in the first round but Henrik got hurt towards the tail end of the regular season and he played hurt during the playoffs....and after that year we were a pretty good team. And FWIW what the Rangers had in the bank as far as prospects go was not nearly as much or as good as what they have now. The Rangers have a lot of great pieces coming--but the ones here now like Andersson, Chytil, Howden, DeAngelo, Pionk, Georgiev can be impact players to help transition guys like Hajek, Kravtsov, Shesterkin, Miller and Lundkvist in the next two/three year and when that happens if those guys are transitioning into a winning culture with all the expectations that go with that it will be a very good thing.

Vesey's had a good start to the season. The points are just starting to pick up but really he's always been in the middle of the play and creating chances.
He has been great. I love how he and many others are playing aggressive and pressing the opposition. Vesey is particularly suited to this style. So happy for him.

I love how some people talk about Georgiev bailing this team out in the 3rd, or how Lundqvist steals games, that we aren't deserving, etc,

But goaltending is part of the team and we have always had a great TANDEM. Lundqvist-Talbot, Lundqvist-Raanta, now Lundqvist-Georgiev. We always seem to have good goaltending, period, and that's a big part of the team.

So i get what Quinnie means when he states "where in life".....
But then, WHY in the hell is Spooner playing? What has he done this entire season? He made one nice defensive play tonight that i saw......is he AV's Glass? When Zuccha comes back.....he sits.
Btw, good job sitting Smith.

Honestly, I think the only reason spooner isn’t benched is his role. Right or wrong, Quinn doesn’t see a better option right now In That specific spot. Once he does, Spooner is benched I believe.

Yeah, but we should have lost more back then so we could have had a chance to draft higher.

Losing culture is a thing. I do believe in that and its right to not want that for our team.

With that said, these shootout wins are just not enjoyable. We're not doing nearly enough to win games. We're blowing leads, sometimes multiple goal leads on a nightly basis and then somehow recusing these games in a skills comp.

They don't feel like wins. They don't.

I AM AS ANTI TANK AS THEY COME but this is not enjoyable.

We're not even getting anything out of Chytil and Anderson.
Shootout is not enjoyable, period. I’d love them to do, like, two five minute three-on-three periods and then call it a tie if no scoring. A tie isn’t a catastrophe

Who in that group has the potential to be a top 20 player in the league?

I said LEAD the occasional win not try to win occasionally. Bad times with young talent normally win only occasionally. None of this is about them wanting Hughes. They NEED Hughes or someone of his caliber to win a damn cup though. Messier was an all time great. We don’t win without him. Few teams win a cup without HOF talent.

Dont kid yourself.

The coaches are stoked about this win and every win. Watch them they want to win.

Same with the players. There is excitement after that shootout win. These guys want to win. Period.

There is no tank in that locker room.

The tank is here. And I’m guilty of wanting them to lose so we can draft jack Hughes. I admit it.

But... These guys want to win. It’s obvious.

9 of 10 points is that good for them or bad ? .... weird year wanting the high draft pick but hard to not be happy the teams doing ok

Although we all know they have no chance at the cup

Gotcha....even though this team isn't close to the sum talent in those Torts and AV teams, wins should be held to the same standard.
Everyone wants the vets traded....then they want the 20-year olds to play like vets.
I would think that the character building is happening with these wins....as opposed to losing....just so we can get a higher draft pick.
But hey....these guys should be doing what the Torts and AV teams did now.....bad wins. Uh yeah....
You are correct. These are humans and they’re evolving, growing, developing. Fwiw I totally agree with you.
