Prust is one of the most technically sounds fighters in the NHL today. He may not do the most damage, but technically he is dominant. It allows him to stay in fights against much bigger guys.

Prust is not a center and he is better than Boyle. Has better hands, is a significantly more agile skater, and has a better touch around the net although he's not that good in that regard either. So, not sure what one things has to do with the other. I'm sure he is there out of necessity and because of the paycheck. They cannot give him 4th line minutes with what he is making. He has 4th line skills.

Not trying to get in trouble for being here, but the Habs gave Prust that money because they thought he was more than a 4th liner. One of the reason he said he signed in Mtl was he was told that he would be play a bigger role than he did with the Rangers.

Habs use Prust mainly on the 3rd line with Gallagher and Galchenyuk, but when the top lines line a spark coaching staff has put Prust on there lines from time to time, ex with Desharnais and Cole.

I don't think the Rangers thought Prust could be that effective, I remember seeing an atrice you guys had on your board after Prust signing, that Torts said that Prust was promised a lot of things that he didn't think Prust could do...but so far he has been pretty good in that role as a hab.

Another side not, Prust played LW and RW only has a Rangers, Habs management actually thinks he can play Centre also. During training camp he played centre, and Therrien said he would use him there if injuries occur.

Land of no calls..
Really wish they would just keep Kreider in CT for a while. Getting really annoyed with the way they're handling him. Kid should be playing as much pro-level hockey as he can, not sitting in the box and being told to watch Carl Hagelin.

Looking forward to Mashinter getting a shot though.

You won't get in trouble with posts like this, don't worry.

Yeah, that was part of the reason he chose Montreal over NY. The Rangers saw him as a 3rd/4th line, top PKer type.

I still don't think he will ever be more than that. Can he play elsewhere? Sure. His skating is sufficient to get him around and create some turnovers but offensively he is lacking. He is a 3rd/4th line heart and soul player. Nothing wrong with that.

Very excited to see Mashinter. Not only can the guy drop the gloves, he isn't inept in the attacking zone either. Reminds me slightly of a larger Prust.

I think he gets sent down if Mashinter plays well. The Whale don't play until Thursday I believe so it gives him a few more days of practicing with the NHL players and coaches.

It's really tough to get a read on them based on their results so far, but the Habs are playing their 3rd in 4 nights and flew in from Montreal last night. No reason not to out-skate them. Price just got over the flu and Lundqvist is back in form after a less then stellar start.

All the stars are aligned for a W.

They are on a 4 game win streak though so they are playing good hockey. Can't take anything for granted here. Go out and Torts them to death!

Also it's obvious Mashinter is a straight fill-in for Powe. You think Torts was gonna put Kreider on the 4th line? Kreider will get his shot.

Prust and Asham have never fought before. Good chance they go tonight.

If Mash is in im not expecting him to to go with Asham, but Moen is in the lineup. They might get acquainted. I think Mash will more likely try and make the statement on the ice though over using his fists. I would think he does everything in his power to make a statement that he can play the game first.

“@stevezipay: Looks like Masdohinter might be in vs Montreal: Kreider and Bickel last ones on ice.â€

Do not like how CK is being handled. Play him or send him down. This is ridiculous. Curious about Mash but not excited by any stretch.

You're might be slightly misinformed.

Kreider was sent down to play everyday because his play here was inconsistent.

The only reason he was brought right back up was because Nash had an injury and might not have been able to play the last game against Washington.

Now with Powe getting hurt and put on IR, Mashinter was recalled the take his place, and Kreider won't be sent down just yet in case he is needed. I am sure he will be sent down once its confirmed that Nash will be ok and good to go from here on out.

Man, you guys worrying about the "treatment" of Chris Kreider....All i know is that since Torts has been aboad, the Rangers have handled their younger players and emerging NHLers very, very well and that includes guys traded---Staal, McD, DZ, Cally, Dubi, AA, Hagelin, Stepan, even Boyle can be put on this list given what he was when we got him (you guys want to quible about MZA, I can see that)..I trust them 100% to do the right think with both JT MIller and, even if he's benched or sent down, Chris Kreider...And have no problem with their treatment so far

As for PRUST..he played 3rd and 4th line here (even 2nd some times), as well as the PK, and the Rangers offered him a bot load of money to come back and do similar things but Les Habs just blew that boat out of the water with too much money to go along with similar ice time...And he had personal reasons for going to Montreal...Oh well, Slats did all he could because they knew it would be a tough hole to fill...and it still is with POWE out...

A huge guy who can drop em' AND has some skill?!?

SIGN. ME. UP.

Really hope he impresses. Having a guy like that patrolling your 4th line is invaluable.

OMG he was sent down but called up because Nash was questionable for Sunday's game. The Whale don't play until tomorrow so I assume he gets sent down after tonight's game barring any unforeseen circumstances.

Everybody needs to relax on the Kreider front here.
