Still not a bad move at the time. No one could see Brassard suddenly turning into a bad player.

I mean besides all the evidence that players start declining at that age and that a portion of his points were coming off the PP which we knew he would get little of with the Pens.

That said I like the deal at the time so hindsight is 20/20.

We can't say JR didn't live up to his name as our GM. He gave us the full GMJR experience: early success followed by what in gods name was that? Literally same deal he pulled in Carolina, except that here he managed to keep the juju going for an extra cup.

Actually Brassard was having the best 5v5 season of his career that year with Ottawa and had very little PP production....

Every time Kap or E-Rod fire the puck 4 feet wide, I just think of the guy from Major League and the "Juuuuuuust a bit outside!"

Interestingly, here's me by the time this team reaches the third period . . .

A lot of our Forwards look sleepy and disorganized.
Given the circumstances, I'm ok with some of the D trying to force the issue offensively. Matheson, Riiko and Letang at least look like they wanna be here.

It irks me that in my heart I know tge second Malkin and Crosby are retired, the league will increase the net size to increase scoring…. I just know its going to work that way….

They'll probably start calling penalties in the playoffs so talented teams have an advantage. I would support that but it would also irk me.

They play well enough most games to win, but there just isn’t enough scoring touch. I don’t think Sid and Geno move the needle far enough for this to be a successful team in the playoffs.

Honestly, my only issue with it was that they could've pulled it off without moving Cole. Yes, I know, he wasn't the same guy as he'd been, but he would've come in handy in the playoffs.

No way to know the other part with Brassard.
