As a veteran, I have always disliked military appreciation games. Most veterans don’t want the attention. I’ve always been put off by vets who wanna advertise their service and enjoy being thanked for it. It’s a nice gesture, but it’s the same thing as Veterans Day. I’ve always felt like going out of your way to get your free Veterans Day happy meal from Red Robin or wherever is a bit lame. It’s nice for older vets or vets who have fallen on hard times who actually need a meal. For the rest of us it should be one of those “thank you, but that’s not necessary” things.
…unless it’s free beer. Or whiskey. Never turn down free whiskey.
