Our transition game, puck management, PK and general passing are vastly improved thanks to Q.

Hit the nail on the head with the two bolded comments, but Gallant will have you guys pointed in the right direction, players love to play for him.
He'll bark at the refs all day to stick up for his players and he looks like a Bond villain.

We are loose goosey defensively for stretches so NYR is gonna get their high danger chances and Knight has looked very human the last few games.

Really looking forward to the goalie match-up tonight, Igor looks like a future Vez winner.

Just asking for fun, entertaining game with no injuries.
Cheers!!

Thanks, good luck to you guys too (within reason of course). Imo the focus on keeping the speed up and skating going is a big part of the better transition game that Q installed.

3. Fabulous play
4. It's coming/It's only a matter of time
5. Anytime Sam comments on the wrong player.

That'll get you good and f***ed.

I’m going with a general, overwhelmingly repeated narrative about how Florida has “done a good job” of getting the most out of cast off/unheralded players with focus on Bennett, Verhage, Duclair, Forsling, Vatrano.

And that we've done a bad job of getting the least out of desired/heralded players.

The same way guys like Ovechkin and McDavid and Crosby have won Art Ross trophies on bottom dwellers. Fox will have a hand in a disproportionately high percentage of our offense, as he currently already has, nearly 1/7 of the way through the season.

We’ll be a low scoring team. Fox will have a hand in our offense more often than not. Panarin will be point per game. Just not the 100+ point pace of the past two years. He’ll have an 80-85 point season. Fox and Panarin on the PP will account for damn near half the offense. Mika may also have a ~70 point season. That’s not horrible it’s just disappointing and a regression from what he did the past two years. Fox on PP1 will manage a career year with them and Kreider, but relative to standards, Bread and Zib will both have disappointing down years. Kreider may have a career year.

Isn't this just assuming that the last 12 games will just be our whole season?

From Gallant's pre-game presser:

Journalist: Any update on Chytil?
Gallant: He's day-to-day, upper body.
Same journalist: So tonight, yes or no?
Gallant: [exasperated chuckle] Day-to-day, upper body....

The idiocracy is winning isn't it.

30 seconds later he said he hopes to have Fil in the line up.

I agree, its dumb but whatever. I'm far more interested in what he does during the games than I am with what he chooses to tell/not tell our beat reporters.

We sacrificed Quinn for this. At least Quinn was transparent. And at least Quinn had Blackwell, a plug who was able to score some goals when the top guys failed miserably.

"Sacrificed?"

Quinn was also wearing guys out with his control freak approach.

What does Colin Blackwell have to do with any of this? He wasn't "let go", he was taken in an expansion draft. We also kept Kevin Rooney over him, which right now looks like the correct choice. Rooney has been one of the few guys on this team showing up every night and is centering our only consistent line.

This guy loves the phrase day-to-day lmao

Yeah. Essentially. It’s “early” but it’s also 1/7th of the season. Nearly 1/6th. 7x12=84. 6x14=84.

I have no idea what the record will be. I’m assuming it won’t be as good as the first 10 games. I don’t think that at game 30 Laf or Kakko just magically flips a switch. I don’t see Blais or Goodrow suddenly becoming offensive dynamos.

I can see Kreider having his career best season. I imagine Panarin ends up around 80-90 points, which is “good” but not the dominating 100+ pace he’s been on, and not the third most productive ES player in the league like he has been. Zib also won’t put together a 40+ goal 90 point season. 30/70? Still not bad, but again, not like he had been pacing for. Those two on the PP will be enough for Fox to have a 65 point season, but aside from that? Not much to get excited over.

With them regressing and everyone else stagnant? Yep, we pretty much are exactly what we are. I believe what you see right now is what we get this year.

He was exposed, while jabronis like Hajek and Georgiev were protected. How's that not letting go someone who was unexpectedly productive?

Where has Gallant's laissez-faire approach gotten the team? It's visually even worse than Quinn's teams. Others here are clamoring for Torts. This squad needs a disciplinarian.

I have no problems with Rooney.

Judging from NYR tradition, the team will outplay FLA just to give us that glimmer of hope, that this is a team that can hang with the big boys, only for it to disappear again.

I’m with this. I was outspokenly fed up with Quinn and attributed the failings of the kids to him and the usage he delegated them. Gallant has been no better, and while the team seems to have a tiny bit more spine (really, tiny) they are - at least subjectively, by virtually everyone’s eye test - worse than under Quinn. Significantly. Just as I was a strong advocate of removing Quinn, I was really loud about patience and withholding judgement during preseason and the first 8 or so games. At this point, I just don’t see anything that indicates it’s an adjustment period to a new coach or system.

There’s no in-between; either we get embarrassed again or it’s the first period and a bit v Edmonton again where we go 4 something up (hopefully without shitting the bed this time).

In true Rongo style we could end their unbeaten run.

(I’m very aware this post might age badly)

Gerard, how comfortable do you feel with your job security?
16 million dollars US funds is very easy to like at his age . He'll be OK . His son in law just started a new hockey related business endorsed by the NHL . I'm sure the Rangers likely helped with that .
