Jeez that stat comparison from their GDT is brutal. We're among the worst in the league at almost everything lol
According to Embryo, everything's peachy and we're gonna break out soon and destroy the league.

Hoping for a win today, but I won't be upset over a loss. I just want some great play from the kids.

I'd really like to move Kakko off Breads line.

I didnt see all of the Calgary game because I was up in Saratoga, but what I did see he looked the same as every game since he's come back. A little less engaged. Not sure what the hell happened, he was looking REALLY good coming out of camp.

I'm hoping he finds it again now that they are home and can get into a more regular routine. But he doesnt seem to be playing his brand of hockey right now and maybe he needs a new line to shake things up.

Any word on Chytil?

What the Rangers need tonight is a tight defensive game all around. More team D in the zone, more support in the neutral zone.

Make the safe play first and go from there. Simple plays

Day to day. Upper body. Nope. Just day to day. Upper body.

Everyone thinks we are going to get boatraced, so I am almost expecting us to win. No Barkov would be a lucky break.

What weve seen so far is a team with no identity that can barely string good periods together let alone games. Its still early but luckily we've been able to bank some points but once we hit the 15 game mark, there needs to be some forward progress. If i'm Gallant, im throwing the lines into the blender and the Chytil injury would give them an excuse to do so.

From what I've seen the Panthers have quite a few aspects to their game I feel the Rangers lack. For example

- they don't stand still waiting for the puck to come to them they keep their edges and the puck moving as much as possible,
- they stand still/slow down only if forced to.
- they work very hard as a team supporting each other, also along the boards while keeping the tempo up
- they keep it simple and focus on moving the puck up the ice quickly without bothering with fancy setups if there is no space.
- they are not afraid of EW passes in the o-zone if they can move the puck with speed

They are kind of a mix between Edmonton and Carolina, not as lose as Edm in their structure but not as solid as Carolina try to be either, but they skate hard as Edm and they work hard as Carolina do. Their weakness is their defense, they can be scored on, that's where the Rangers need to be effective.

Our transition game, puck management, PK and general passing are vastly improved thanks to Q.

Hit the nail on the head with the two bolded comments, but Gallant will have you guys pointed in the right direction, players love to play for him.
He'll bark at the refs all day to stick up for his players and he looks like a Bond villain.

We are loose goosey defensively for stretches so NYR is gonna get their high danger chances and Knight has looked very human the last few games.

Really looking forward to the goalie match-up tonight, Igor looks like a future Vez winner.

Just asking for fun, entertaining game with no injuries.
Cheers!!

I expect nothing from the kids at this point. I don’t think that there is an “ah ha!” moment coming for either of them until something significant changes. Laf and Kakko (and Chytil when back in) will continue to have the impact of replacement players while everything remains status quo.

I’m expecting a long stretch where Fox and Shesterkin are the only significant bright spots. I can’t see anything lighting a fire under Zib’s ass. I don’t see Panarin and Strome turning it up - I actually think that they are “distracted” or sulking over the likelihood that Strome isn’t re-signed. My expectations are a bottom 10 finish, Bread’s worst season as a Ranger, a disappointing regression from Mika now that he’s locked up, very meh production from the kids (35-40 points tops). Fox will have a career year offensively. Shesterkin will have a Hank year, where he doesn’t get the recognition he deserves because his GAA is inflated by being hung out to dry too many nights.

And I’m fine with it. Not fine, it’s disappointing and frustrating. But I’m good - I accept it - I understand that these are my expectations and I’m not going to get bent out of shape about our performance. If we exceed my expectations, excellent. But this is the bar I’m setting for what I expect the team to do this year, so that I know where my threshold for disappointment is.

How will Fox have a career year offensively when every forward is having a down year offensively? Defenseman scoring is extremely highly correlated to the quality of forwards they play with.

When Staal went down, McDonagh became MacTruck of the future. Our kids are all being blocked like nothing we've seen before. The only way to save our rebuild is for Panarin, Zibanejad, and Strome to all get injured for stretches at a time so the rest of these kids can take over the reign. That's it.

The same way guys like Ovechkin and McDavid and Crosby have won Art Ross trophies on bottom dwellers. Fox will have a hand in a disproportionately high percentage of our offense, as he currently already has, nearly 1/7 of the way through the season.

We’ll be a low scoring team. Fox will have a hand in our offense more often than not. Panarin will be point per game. Just not the 100+ point pace of the past two years. He’ll have an 80-85 point season. Fox and Panarin on the PP will account for damn near half the offense. Mika may also have a ~70 point season. That’s not horrible it’s just disappointing and a regression from what he did the past two years. Fox on PP1 will manage a career year with them and Kreider, but relative to standards, Bread and Zib will both have disappointing down years. Kreider may have a career year.
