Howden is the kind of player you win championships with. 200 foot game.

Now if we can find 17 more like him...

Not that they aren't already loaded with talent but... Tampa is going to regret trading him.

Howden is a reminder of both how poorly we’ve drafted in the past and and how well we’ve traded recently.

I disagree and agree. I don't believe we have drafted poorly. Given what we had to work with picks wise, I think we did fine. I do agree we have done well in trades.

Just out of curiosity why isn't there a separate post-game thread?

Basically, see 2k2's explanation below.

It was probably because the Rangers won, so there was only going to be 2-3 pages at most of post game discussion. If the Rangers lost in the shootout, there would have been round the clock monitoring for PGT: Rangers lose west coast game in November PART IV- [MOD WARNING POST 800].

Although this was meant in a facetious way, it is also semi-accurate.

West Coast games, the GDT is usually very small and PGT the same. So sometimes they just share one thread.

Bingo.

Overall, glad to see they won. I know that many folks want us to tank for a high pick. That isn't good for our younger players though. Getting some wins here or there helps build their confidence.

Various Musings

-Howden...WOW..size,smarts,speed,skill maybe at the end of this rebuild it may be this move that stands out.
-Hayes playing assertive and could of had a hat trick but he's got to go in a trade and the sooner the better. Filip needs to get his minutes with the correct wingers
-ADA is really a very good player and hopefully the coaching staff can use some psychology on him because he is a head case.
-Need to get Hayek up and playing asap looks like the spot for him is Smith(thou it should be Staal)
-Spooner needs to sit and Pavel back in
-I think the year after next year we can be competitive
-Coach gets a B+ so far
-I'd rather be us than the Kings or Ducks ..aging and heavy contracts

Vesey's improvement this year has been a pleasant surprise, but for the love of God staple him to the bench during 3 on 3 OT.

Some players thrive in that situation. Vesey is not one of those players

Pretty much agree. He changed into the old Vesey as soon as extra time started. Gave up possession of the puck without being pressured and possession is everything in OT.

ADA with two count em TWO sexy spin moves last night, one in the offensive zone that lead to a solid opportunity.

He also had a stellar pass to hayes in the slot that would've been a goal if hayes hit the net.

Overall, solid game. Stop the penalties pls. Skjei-ADA is a solid 2nd pair

Hayes is so slow, I cant wait to get him off my team.
Wrong. Sorry. Do you have any IDEA how many teams would LOVE to have this guy on their team? Slow, ain't got crap to do with why anyone should want him gone.
He creates,
Sees the ice with the best of them
Has a good shot.....if he would shoot
Asked to play defense against the top players
Excellent on PK
Decent on FO's
Can slow down opposing teams momentum
Will score 50-60 pts

Okay, you want him off. I want a huge return, if they decide on keeping ZBAD. Think it will come down to what team offers MORE for either one of them.

Tony's got a bit of edge. I didn't mind that penalty all that much apart from Anaheim scoring on it. It at least wasn't a soft one. He clobbered the guy who had just run him hard.

Yeah losing a lot of games this year certainly has its benefits, but you can't be mad if the young guys are stepping up, playing well and helping us to win some games.

This should be the only thing that matters this season. If these young guys can’t step up now, I wouldn’t bet on the turning it all around later. It’s nice to see them work their asses off to be some of the best players in the lineup

after a few years of very bland AV hockey. its refreshing to have some 'tude. i dont mind that penalty either.

mark messier is still my all time favorite player and he was um... unpleasant to play against. hockey isnt figure skating. its a full contact sporty and tempers flair.

100% ok with deangelo last night.

Staal-Pionk was on the ice for that terrible PPGA

I think the poster was getting at ADA taking a non-accidental penalty. No reason for that. Regarding the PPGA, Zucc was lost on the last 10-15 seconds of that. He had no idea who to cover and was skating wherever the puck was going.

Zucc is a horrific PK’er.

When he and Staal are out there at the same time it’s like almost a sure thing that the other team is going to score.

I don't understand why ADA isn't getting PP time
I understand Pionk make the simple play. Same appeal as having mcdonagh on the PP. and Quinn is desperately trying to get Shattenkirk going. Give it time. ADA will get his shot again.

Also, haven't talked to you in forever. Hows it going my guy?

I'll take a first rounder over a 50 point player we have to pay 6+ mill to keep who plays the position we are overloaded in.
