Boyle should be in the line up, but at the expense of Kreider? That is a questionable decision. If Torts wants Boyle in, bench Halpern.
Kreider is part of the future and playing games with his head is not good for his development at this stage of his career, he needs to build confidence.

They barely beat 2 pretty (relatively) mediocre teams. One of which is the worst team in the NHL this year. We had as easy of a road to the finals and hell, seeding-wise to the cup and still couldn't do it. Couldn't do it and looked bad doing it. We could have lost in 6 games to Ottawa if not for some favorable officiating.

That last place team also beat Boston... Finishing 1st is no guarantee, that's why they actually play the games.

cant bench your other effective PKer.

Everyone has a role and what we're lacking in in that game against Boston were properly executed Roles. We're not lacking strength in offense or speed. We're lacking in structure and Boyle is essentially 90% good for that.

People can not tell me tat they really think Kreider has been consistently noticeable for good reasons right?

I mean it's not like Torts benched Nash....

Halpern has played great.

Bench nobody, leave boyle out. Youre on a freakin win streak, the USA line has looked solid, So has the Nash step hags line. Boyle is a 4th liner to begin with. Torts loves him way too much. Kreider gives us more oppurtunity, boyle cant skate for the life of him.

It's always the same complaints whenever a young guy gets scratched or sent down. There was even a huge uproar a few seasons ago when Gilroy was sent down for a few weeks.

This sort of thing happens to young players all over the league. I'm not the least bit concerned about Kreider being benched for one game. He's not as mentally fragile as some people think.

This Islanders team also has a ridiculous PP. Maybe Torts wanted one of the teams best PKers to play? Oh no!

Where are all you boyle supporters in the boyle thread. I was alone there!

Are you implying he's hurt them somehow?

1g 1a +4 in 4 games.

A few good reads defensively, such as the other night in Boston coming back and helping thwart an odd man rush against.

Set up a few scoring chances, like the one Gilroy didn't finish.

How exactly has he hurt the team, that he "hasn't been noticeable for good reasons"?

He needs the puck to shoot more, Torts ****ing refuses to acknowledge players strengths and weaknesses when putting lines together. He pulls them out of a hat.

Kreider needs a guy like Richards to get him the puck consistently, when he's wide open in a high percentage scoring area. Miller, Callahan, Pyatt, Halpern, Asham, are NOT going to do that.

Want to develop a scoring winger properly, that excels on the rush and transition? Don't put him with muckers. Put him with guys who have ****ing puck skills and vision.

I didn't say he has hurt the team, but watching him play, he hasn't been assertive as of yet. He was in last years playoffs. I haven't seen it yet this year.

Case in defense of Kreider: "He hasn't done anything!"

Case against Boyle: "He hasn't done anything!"

No double standard here. Just one standard for Boyle, and a completely different standard for Kreider.

I'm reading into this as giving JT his last game before they send him back down, and giving Boyle a game to re-assimilate into the lineup

But that's just me :)

Kreider is already well developed in offence part. At this time in his development the play when opponent controls the puck is more important. As player improves his defensive skills, obviously, Fantasy Hockey people will be disappointed. Not Torts, though. He just needs a room for TJM. Keider must hit, he is not good at it.

You're right, 3 OT losses last year, no regular season losses. On top of that, he was a huge part of the reason we've only lost 3 games, in OT, over the last 3 seasons, when leading after 2.

That is a lot of luck too. Last year we blew a 2-1 3rd period lead and lost in regulation against the Blackhawks but because the 2nd goal was scored in the 3rd (aka even bigger collapse) it didn't count. Several times two years ago we blew 3rd period leads and then won the shootout. In fact I remember a game against the juggernaut Canes who missed the playoffs two years ago where we blew a 3rd period 2-1 lead and then a Ranger (forgot who) scored a fluke goal that bounced in off a Cane to tie it and we won in a shootout. But hey our record was perfect. Was Boyle on the team when they blew a 3rd period 3 goal lead to the Caps in the playoffs 2 years ago? Or does that not count because it was during the unimportant playoffs? Let's not pretend like we have been some sort of impenetrable wall these last 2 years. The majority of teams have amazing records while leading after 2. I sure hope OUR record would be good with the best goalie and one of the best Ds in the league.

Everything you say about there record last year is a fluke. A fluke they came in first, a fluke they made it 2 games from the cup, a fluke they won 2 rounds in the playoffs, a fluke they only had 3 OT losses when holding a lead.

When will you accept that this may actually be a good team. Sure, we didn't win anything, but we made it further than we did in the last 17 years. We did it with a ton of homegrown kids, like kreider, like miller, etc...

For the first time in years, i trust the way this team is being run. We are going to be fine and Boyle is and has been a huge part of the success. Do i think Kreider will be out of the lineup for long, no, but i do see boyle as being an important cog going forward.

People can not tell me tat they really think Gaborik has been consistently noticeable for good reasons right?

Fixed it for you. Kreider would have had 4 points in 4 games if Staal and Gaborik finished gimme setups from him. How many points does Gaborik have in the last 4 games? Or was close to getting? Gaborik is invisible a large portion of the time too. Every player can't be Rick Nash on every shift.

Gaborik is what he is. Kreider is a work in progress.

When Kreider scores 40 goals in the NHL, we can discuss this further.

Our run last year wasn't a fluke. Though, I wonder what would have happened if we didn't get that BS call for a 5 on 3 in game 6. Still could have won, but it becomes tricky. The 3 OT losses in 2 years is not a fluke, but sounds a lot better than it actually is. You and some people like to pretend that the reason we blew the lead to Boston was because Brian "best defensive forward ever" Boyle wasn't playing. I gave you a # of collapses we had with Boyle in. Including two 3rd period 3 goal collapses. To pretend like it's some guarantee we wouldn't blow the lead because of Boyle is ridiculously overrating him.

Shhht, stop making sense. We're not used to that here. Join in with the crowd going nuts and you'll be fine.

How many games has Boyle played in where the Rangers have hung onto a lead int eh 3rd period?
